Its on Hallmark which we dont get:( Pentimento 01-06-2006, 11:07 AM All I've heard about it is that Dick plays an absent-minded criminology professor who also solves crimes and that his son, Barry Van Dyke, stars in it as well. For those who do get Hallmark, it premieres tomorrow night. rjb182 01-06-2006, 01:39 PM Didn't he already do a whodunnit show? Where he played the doctor? I'd think a performer as versatile as Mr. Van Dyke would want to go a different way with his next recurring role... Lolac 01-06-2006, 05:59 PM Didn't he already do a whodunnit show? That show was "Diagnosis Murder" and I had a similar reaction, rjb182. I can see why you'd say that, but some folks didn't like it when Dick went way out into left field to do "The Gin Game". Great performance, but not the Dick we know and love. At this stage of the game I imagine he's going to pick and choose projects based on what he wants to do and what he thinks his fans will enjoy. I loved Diagnosis Murder and really liked Murder 101. He was a natural for the role. There's something about veteran actors playing in mysteries that really appeals to me. This show was produced and written by Dean Hargrove and directed by Christian Nyby. They were behind many of those great Perry Mason/Matlock/Diagnosis Murder shows of the 80s and 90s. Seeing that Dick is now 80 years old (and starting to look it) I imagine there won't be too many of these movies made, so I'll enjoy them while I can. |
