I mean, when a poll is conducted, not everyone is participating in a poll. If there is a poll abt politics or what is currently going on in the world, not everyone is being asked. Are the families that live in the Appalachian Mountain ranges part of this poll? Are the families that live in the ghetto giving their two cents on a poll? The homeless? they are people too even though they have no home, no income, they matter too. The people that live in their million dollar homes that don't care abt being counted; people that want to give their opinion on a poll ON-LINE but they can't because they don't own a computer or can't access one; the people who didn't give their opinion on a poll because they didn't even know there was a poll being conducted?
Just my opinion after seeing so many polls, figures on SO and on t.v. when polls are conducted asking questions abt people's opinions on the president, the war, etc. etc.

Yeah, polls are pretty pointless for the most part. If they were done over the course of years rather than weeks, and polled equal amounts of people from each State, background, etc, then maybe I'd take them a bit more seriously. What gets me, is when the news people do a one week poll of 5000 people, and say: 65 percent of American's believe this, and 35 percent believe that. I mean, how stupid is that?? You're basing every American's opinion on 5000 people for crying out loud. Polls can be fun, but with the way they are, there's no way they can be taken seriously.

So well said. You said this so well. You are so right. How can 5000 people be the "average" or the majority of what I THINK, OR YOU OR ANYONE ELSE!!??? That's why I hate when there is a poll mentioned on the political forums abt this, that and the other thing when it is so pointless and there is no basis.
When Fox News or anyone of those news channels comes up with a poll, I roll my eyes because it doesn't mean SQUAT!
Like I said, go to all the homeless shelters, go to all the ghettos, go to all the projects, go to all the poor mountain ranges of America, go to the rich, poor and all those in between AND THEN TAKE A POLL.
