UM on now here in Australia.
It's the Brandon Lee season premiere - was this also the CBS premiere?
Agreed in one thing, the slower theme music does not work!
Interesting factoid on Bruce Lees death I just saw. Apparently his house in Hong Kong had not been built according to the principles of Feng Shui. The previous owner had consulted an expert who had told him to place a small mirror on the outside of the house to deflect evil spirits.
The mirror was blown away in a typhoon on July 19th 1973. Bruce Lee died the next day. Weird.
Back to the show...

PS - This is also the Tony Castro episode. A re-enactment done to a VERY high standard.

It was an NBC segment, shown at the beginning of the 1995-96 season.

It was an NBC show--the season premiere--the first UM with the new powder blue logo/intro and the "flutey" remix of the theme song. I remember it being heavily advertised in the weeks leading up to the premiere.

It's rare, but Brandon Lee is not the only person ever killed by a prop gun. Look at Jon-Erik Hexum and this poor kid: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,452811,00.html

Poor kid. Maybe there was a mixup on the school play.

I don't know how someone managed this. I've been to performances of Oklahoma! and Oliver! which involved firing prop guns, some at fairly close range, and no one was hurt.

Brandon Lee's death was so heartbreaking, especially since he was to marry his fiance about 2 weeks later. Sort of just like the plot of The Crow.

I've always wanted the Tony Castro segment and the Ed Barbara segment.
There was also a segment where a guy in Kentucky (a police officer if I recall) came across a man who started chasing him (the fugitive was kicked out of a radical group because his views were too violent). Unfortunately, I don't recall the names of those involved. I saw the segment a couple years ago on a certain video site. I wanted that segment, too.

Just watched this again on UM.
Bruce Lee- theories range from Chinese curse because he spread Kung Fu to Westerners and non-Chinese, the Yakuza took him out, etc.
I believe his death was what the coroner stated: a freak allergic reaction that caused a brain edema.
Brandon Lee- a freak accident no less.
Curse? No. I simply do not believe it.
I believe the theory was that it was a family curse brought on by Bruce Lee's father, not because he taught Westerners kung-fu.
