The reason I ask this question is, on tonight's episode she said her husbands name was Alvin. But in the episode where her husband makes a pass at Thelma his name is Ray.
So was she married once or twice? Or were the writers too lazy to remember their own storylines?
why do TV shows do this?
That was a glaring mistake on the part of the writers. and mostly they think the audience would not know or care. If they had written that show right, at least have some form of consistency and continuity.
IS CONTINUITY SO HARD TV PRODUCERS!

I'm not sure how many times she was married but did anyone notice that she never mentions her marriages once Penny comes along?

Yeah she did, when Thelma and her and Michael were in the kitchen and right before Flo walks in the door from Arizona, Willona was talking abt her ex.
The writers were stupid and they thought they could get one over on us. It was whatever sounded good for the moment and the storyline.
WILLONA FOR THE RECORD WAS ONLY MARRIED ONCE. I know, the stupidity of the writers made it confusing, especially for those who watch this show for the first time.

I think she was only suppose to be married once, but they either chose not to do their homework on previous scripts or figured the audience wouldn't pick up on it (probably both). There was a big change of writers/producers between the 3rd and 5th seasons, though. That might be a possible reason. At least they remembered Florida's first husband's name was JAMES. lol
