What I want to know, is do the new panasonic dvd recorders allow you to break up recordings? What I want to do is leave it recording 8 hours of video tape over night, onto the built-in hardrive, then seperate the episodes, before it writes the dvd. It on my list to find out, as it will save me a lot of time if this is possible.

The one I have isn't new, but I would imagine the new ones would have the same feature: it's "divide program." For example: if it's like a marathon of a bunch of half hour episodes and you want to split each one after you've recorded them non-stop, yes you can do that with the divide program option.

anyhow i wasnt thrilled and even less thrilled about it being incomplete

one of my local staions on directv is starting to run the 8 rules on monday

2 shows per day

so if it holds and they run them, i should have all by march 1

Of course they do and the best thing is the speed of dubbing from hard drive to disc. My old E80 machines took a full hour for a 2 hour SP recording transfer. (high speed)
The new E-H50 takes a quarter of the time for the same transfer.

I have a second recorder arriving this week, a Pioneer 533H-S. I've been researching decks for a couple of months, and concluded it has everything I'm looking for in a second deck for conversion purposes. So I hope to get started with VHS and Beta conversions in January, starting with 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, starring Richard Dean Anderson (Stargate SG-1, MacGyver).

In the meantime, I've been working to catch up on my regular off-DISH recording, and I'm just about caught up to the holiday break - which is fortunate, considering new shows start up this week.

I'm also going to be doing a set of Big Valley off Encore Westerns, and I've been working on a set of Bosom Buddies from current TBS airings.
