Rich better than Cody (Step By Step)

Jefferson better than Steve (Married With Children)

Barbara better than when the Mom was there (Unhappily ever after)

Valerie better than Brenda (90210)

Bubba and Viola better than Buzz and his sister (mama's family)

Tori better than Jesse (Saved By The Bell)

Mr. Furley better than the Ropers (3's Company)

Okay, I agree with the Valerie better than Brenda, and Furley better than the Ropers, but Tori better than Jesse??

Marilyn from The Munsters (I think they got the new Marilyn after episode 8 or so).

Partridge Family- Brian Forster replaced Jeremy Gelbwaks as Christopher Partridge

Taxi - John Burns leaves after the 1st season and Jim Ignatowski joins the cabbies.

Ellen - Holly and Anita leave and get replaced by Paige and Joe.

Ellen - Adam bids farewell early in the 3rd season, while Spence serves as his replacement.

The King of Queens - Richie goes and Danny comes.

LOL. yeah Pretty, I liked Tori better than Jesse. They were both very annoying, but I couldn't take Jesse's whining .

I like Major Winchester much better than I like Major Burns on MASH. Winchester was smarter and when it came to insults and practical jokes, he gave just as good as he got, unlike Frank who only whined. I still like Burns though, but Winchester is certainly the funnier of the two, IMHO.

Terrie was Better Then chrissy(Three's Company)

They also replaced the first David with a different one on Eight Is Enough, I liked the second one played by Grant G. much better.

Marilyn from The Munsters (I think they got the new Marilyn after episode 8 or so).

Beverly Owen, who was Marilyn Munster #1, was in the first 13 episodes.

On Alice, Jolene was a successful addition after the departures of Flo and Belle.

On Newhart, the rich, spoiled and whiny Stephanie was a much funnier character than her cousin Leslie. Leslie was a very one-dimensional, bland goody-goody character.

On Bewitched, Kasey Rogers was just as worthy a Louise Tate as her previous portrayer, Irene Vernon.

I may get a lot of :eek: s here but:
-I prefered Potter to Blake and BJ to Trapper on M*A*S*H
-I think Mary Tyler Moore was better after Rhoda and Phillis left ( Making the hilarious Sue-Anne, Mary's closest friend(?) )
-I think pretty much anyone would take Pat Priest over Bev Owen as Marilyn on the Munsters.

I liked Rich and Cody equally (Step by Step).
I preferred Brenda to Valerie (90210).
I preferred Jesse to Tori (Tori also replaced Kelly, but again, I liked Kelly better) (Saved by the Bell).
I honestly can't think of many replacement characters that I like better than the original. I do prefer Valerie to Jenny on Sabrina, but I don't dislike Jenny or anything.

conrad mcmasters was way better than tyler hudson on matlock

I totally prefer Cody to Rich. Cody was funny all the time. Rich was like watching paint dry, IMO. I think the show went down hill after he left.

Iola replaced Buzz and Sonya on Mama's Family. She and Mama were like Lucy and Ethel. Cagney to her Lacy.

I prefer Philip McKeon over Alfred Lutter on Alice.

Sue Ann, Molly, Cindy, and Nancy were replaced with Jo. I like Jo so much better.

I prefer the second Claire over the first one.

Parks & Recreation - Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott) replaced Mark Brendanawicz (Paul Schneider) at the end of the second season. By the last season, it's hard to imagine there was ever a show without Ben.

Matlock: Brynn Thayer(Leanne McIntyre) was just as beautiful as Nancy Stafford(Michelle Thomas)

I pretty much agree with everything posted with two exceptions: Anyone that preferred BJ Hunnicutt to Trapper John on MASH, or Rebecca to Diane on Cheers needs their heads examined. BJ was the single-most unfunny character ever on a sitcom, and Rebecca had no chemistry with Sam whatsoever.

I agree with you here. Maj. Winchester is my favorite M*A*S*H character, and he was a much better match for Hawkeye & B.J. than Frank ever was.

Kirk was my favorite character, too. But I don't know how popular he is among fans of the show. My sister just started watching Newhart on Antenna TV and she can't stand him.
