I want to convert some of my European PAL DVD's to North American NTSC format. But I don't want to waste any blank DVDs if it doesn't work. Has anybody ever tried this? :)

View Full Version : Does Anybody Have a DVD Recorder? Jenya 12-26-2005, 05:18 PM I want to convert some of my European PAL DVD's to North American NTSC format. But I don't want to waste any blank DVDs if it doesn't work. Has anybody ever tried this? :) robyrob 12-26-2005, 08:40 PM i've never done it, but this may help: http://www.johnisme.com/avi1.shtml Jenya 12-26-2005, 10:11 PM i've never done it, but this may help: http://www.johnisme.com/avi1.shtml Ah! That's for a computer DVD burner, I'm talking about a regular DVD recorder. I can get them done at my work if I have to use it as a last resort. But I'm just wondering if the DVD recorders can convert them. I don't see my manual mentioning anything about it except for the region differences. My European DVDs are listed as "ALL" region discs, but they are in the PAL video format. :) Kazza 12-27-2005, 12:27 AM I have a friend that has a DVD recorder and can't convert other formats. It takes some kind of different gizmo to do that. dawsongirl 12-27-2005, 01:46 AM I have a Region 1/2 player, but my recorders are all Region 1. I tried putting a Region 2 show on DVD, but the damn R2 disc was copy protected and I couldn't. KristinHerreraFan 12-27-2005, 01:54 AM I don't have one :( But I have a DVD Burner on my computer Jenya 12-27-2005, 04:45 PM Well I copied one, and it still came out in the PAL video format. :( Oh well. I'll just convert them at work, I guess. I can still copy our laserdiscs with my recorder. But I have to read through the manual to see how I can create chapters and titles for them. :) Redd Foxx 12-27-2005, 07:42 PM I don't have a DVD Recorder, but I do have a 50 Hour HD-DVR, which is pretty damn sweet! Jenya 12-27-2005, 09:01 PM I don't have a DVD Recorder, but I do have a 50 Hour HD-DVR, which is pretty damn sweet! If it's pretty damn sweet, then I want one! ;) Redd Foxx 12-27-2005, 09:13 PM Do you have Cox Cable up there in Canada, Eh? Sorry, just had to do that :D Jenya 12-30-2005, 10:41 AM Do you have Cox Cable up there in Canada, Eh? Sorry, just had to do that :D Not Cox cable, but if you are referring to those Digital HD (on demand) type recorders offered by the various cable companies, then the answer is yes, I can always get one. Rogers cable, Cogeco cable and Videotron all offer them. The Bell ExpressVU digital satellite company also offers them as well. The thing with HD recording is you can record many HD programs onto the hard drive, but recording them over to a DVD disc can also be a challenge if they are encoded with copy protection. :( Hollow 12-30-2005, 11:09 AM jus take em to north america then thell b north american :-) |
