For years there has been talk of a Simpsons movie. Should it be animated or
live-action? Personally, I think that it should be an animated movie (perhaps
in CGI like the "Homer 3-D" vignette on the "Treehouse of Horror" segment a
few years back). But, if it were live-action: I think Peter Doyle (or Don Rickles)
would be great as Grandpa Simpson. How about John Lithgow as Homer?

I think it would be better too in animation. The CGI sounds like a pretty cool idea.

I hope they wait until the show is off the air: I doubt a Simpsons movie would do well if the show's still on the air: Why pay for what you can get for "free" on TV??

I only want to see a Simpsons movie if they can come up with a storyline that will sustain a feature-length cartoon: If it's just a glorified episode of the show, why bother??

A movie would be awesome.....but i'd hope it was still a cartoon.

Glad to hear that it will be animated. Otherwise, it probably wouldn't have
worked. Live-action versions of cartoon characters have, in the past, had
more success as half-hour television shows (e.g., BLONDIE, DENNIS THE
MENACE, HAZEL) than in feature-length motion pictures (SAD SACK, LI'L ABNER,
POPEYE, THE FLINTSTONES). Still, Robin Williams and John Goodman were
excellent as Popeye and Fred Flintstone, respectively. But the movies (esp.
POPEYE with those awful Harry Nillson songs) were weak. I thought the
first Flintstones movie was pretty good, though, actually.

The Simpsons would look completely strange if they had to be live-action. I'm very glad that the movie is going to be animated.

The only way a movie would work, if it was hand drawn animation. That's the way the show was conceived and that is the way it should be throughout.

I sorta feel like they waited way too late for a Simpsons movie to come out.. I mean everyone I know are just about tired of the Simpsons & everyone watches Family Guy now. So I'm really not hyped about a movie now. They should have had a movie back in the 90's when the show was still fresh!

Well, I don't watch Family Guy myself. It's at best a watered-down Simpsons ripoff and I'd much rather watch a past-its-prime current Simpsons episode than what's supposed to be a good Family Guy episode.

Though I agree the time for the Simpsons movie would have been around mid-'90s, when the show was still in its creative prime. I'm not all that excited about this upcoming movie, but being a die-hard fan, I'll probably go see it in theaters. I just hope they come up with a fresh storyline that will sustain a feature.

I agree. I have watched some episodes of FAMILY GUY and think it is way
overrated. Even a stale episode of THE SIMPSONS beats a fresh episode of
FAMILY GUY any day. I just never found anything really funny about it
(offensive yes, funny no).
