When does everyone open their presents? In my family over the past two years it has become sort of a tradition to open our presents on Christmas eve. So, does anyone here open their presents on Christmas eve or wait until Christmas day to open presents?

Christmas morning.

I have some relatives who always open them on Christmas Eve, though, and I'm always like "God! What's wrong with you? You're supposed to open them on Christmas DAY!!" (Not to knock anyone here who does it)

It's just that to me, Christmas Eve is a fun time to spend with your family and also anticipate opening gifts. I feel like if I opened them on Christmas Eve, then Christmas would just feel like any other day and be sort of a bust.

We always wait for everyone to come over Christmas eve, and we open only one present. Then, we wait for everyone to come over Christmas morning so we can open everything else.

If I opened them the day before, Christmas day would be lamer than usual.

We open the majority of them on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day when my sister comes over.

Usually, we open the ones from my the family we live with (mom, dad, brother) christmas morning and then when we go to my aunt, uncle, and cousin's house, we open them Christmas day.

This year we're opening some on CHristmas eve because on Christmas eve, my aunt, uncle, and cousins from Minnestoa are coming to my aun't house and we're gonna open presents from them on Chrismas eve.

Usually we haven't been opening our presents until after we eat dinner because dinner is when everybody comes over. This year we aren't opening presents until the 26th because my sister has to work the 24th & 25th but we are all off the 26th.

Both. My parents are divorced and one would get us Christmas Eve and the other would get us Christmas Day. Even though my brothers and I are older now, we still usually split it like that.

Christmas Eve at about 11:30 or 11:45, we open the stuff that's under our tree.

On Christmas Day, we usually go to the family Xmas get-together and bring the stuff for the uncles, aunts, cousins, etc, and everyone opens that stuff whenever...

I have a week early Christmas with my cousins, aunt, 2 uncles, grandma, my mom, and sister. There are presents involved. Otherwise, my Mom just gives me $75 cash each year, along with my Grandma in Cali.

I like reading everyone's own cultural/family personal stories of present opening. Interesting....

While I was growing up, my immediate family would always open up our gifts on Christmas morning before going to church.

In my twenties after my parents split up, my sister and I would spend Christmas with my mom and her side of the family. They are Mexican. They have this Christmas Eve celebration of spending it at one house with lots of yummy food, prayer to the baby Jesus, singing and then everyone opens up presents. For Christmas day, a maternal cousin would have a Christmas Day evening dinner at her house.

Unfortunately, even this family of ours have developed a couple of jerks where my mom, my sister, and I won't get together with those individuals present. So we are not spending Christmas Eve with them.

I guess the three of us will just open them whenever we feel like it. Maybe this evening or maybe tomorrow. We'll play it by ear.

We each open one on Christmas Eve and everything else on the big day. Because Christmas
falls on a sunday this year, the family and I will open the presents after church services.
