View Full Version : Most relatable episodes for you??
Brad Russ 12-22-2005, 03:27 AM I think the most relatable episodes for me, were the ones where Darlene started isolating herself, and wearing all black, as she went through her depression faze. The reason these eps are so relatable to me, is because I went through pretty much the exact same thing at about that age. I started the 7th grade, and suddenly everyone around me seemed different, and I always felt totally out of place, like I was a giraffe or something, surrounded by a bunch of normal kids. Like Darlene, I started wearing mostly black, and became severely depressed, spending most of my time in my room. One scene in these episodes that always touches me, is in the Thanksgiving episode where Darlene is talking to Nana Mary, and says to her: My parents keep asking me what's wrong, but how can I give them an answer, when I don't even know?? The reason I find that so touching, is because I spoke those exact same words to my parents several times, and could totally understand what Darlene was saying. So anyway, those are the episodes that I most relate to. Which ones do you most relate with, and why??

GeorgiaboyJeff! 12-23-2005, 03:24 PM The Darlene being depressed phase for me too. I like that ep alot because it's almost the same thing I went through in high school. I didn't start wearing black but I got to the point to where I couldn't relate to people at my school or family.I, like Darlene eventually grew out of that. I think most kids at that time start to feel different from their peers.

Yeah, I too think it's something similar to what alot of teens go through. Unfortunately, it lasted me 8 years, and is something I still struggle with now to a certain extent. Thank goodness for medication though. If not for my meds, I'd probably still be like that.
RDlover21 12-26-2005, 11:39 PM I will have to agree with little mell on this one i went through the same kind of phase when i was about 7th and 8th grade i was without friends and i was very lonely like darlene and i also had a popular sister so it was kind of a deppression haveing all those people refer to me as ''that wierd guy'' but tehn i met a friend exactly like me and i sprung out my depressin. Like when Darlene met david even though i am a male i can relate to darlene and that episode
sugarsugar2468 01-05-2006, 06:16 PM Mine was where darlene had to read a poem at her school. I realated to the poem so much. I literally cried when she read it.

That was a really great, and touching episode. Definitely one of my favorites. I'm sorry you related to what she said though. :(
Ireneparalegal 01-05-2006, 09:17 PM Definitely the Becky and the "bad" boyfriend storyline. My ex-husband was nine years older than me and I was still a teen. My family hated him and they tried to tell me, show me that he would give me nothing but trouble. My dad wanted so bad for me to dump him. He even offered to buy me a brand new car if I did. If I had listened to my dad, I would have had a car, but I wouldn't have my two beautiful daughters. I went thru hell with that man, but I count my blessings rather than dwell on the past.
