I suppose every local newspaper in the country has its annual "Letters to
Santa" feature, in which youngsters usually request games and toys they want for Christmas. Ours is no exception. Here are excerpts from some of the more interesting ones. Some will amuse you; others will break your heart. ...
A lad named Josh wants "a real bearded dragon for Christmas. You can get one in Australia. Could you please bring me a cage for him to live in?"
A girl named Reina promises, "There will be cookies and milk for you, if my parents don't eat them first."
A five-year-old girl named Kelsey asks for a scooter, a baby doll, some games,
and clothes. Then she writes: "Please remember all of the cancer patients at
the Children's Specialty Center at Carolinas Medical Center and please give my
oncologist, Dr. McMahon, something extra special. Please don't forget our brave military heroes, especially my daddy, Jason, who is serving in the U.S. Navy. And Santa, if you would, please send my mommy, Erin, one of my kisses for Christmas because she lives in heaven with Jesus."
