Brad Russ 12-20-2005, 03:37 PM Iv'e had acid reflux for a couple years now, so I sympathize with what you're going through. Right now I'm taking Zantac for it, and that's helped me alot. You may want to give that a try. TVFactFan 12-20-2005, 03:46 PM Iv'e had acid reflux for a couple years now, so I sympathize with what you're going through. Tuesday Weld 12-20-2005, 04:49 PM I think I may have something like acid reflux, or I have esophageal spasms. Anyway, it hurts, whatever it is. Well I found out that I can no longer eat Nachos and Salsa, because I over did it. Janice 12-20-2005, 05:16 PM My husband suffered for years with acid reflux. He was swigging Maalox constantly, and had a roll of Tums in every pocket of his clothes, in his car, etc. It was so bad one night, that we thought he was having a heart attack and called an ambulance. That was four years ago, his doctor told him he had acid reflux. He now takes prescription Prevacid every day, and it's worked like a miracle. The only time it acts up now is when he has tomato sauce. He's Italian and loves the stuff, so that's a couple of times a week. Pizza can trigger it too, and spicy food. Still, it's never as bad as it was before he started taking Prevacid. TVFactFan 12-20-2005, 05:28 PM My husband suffered for years with acid reflux. You have to take something Solomon. If you're going to buy anything liquid, get Gaviscon. It's twice the price of Maalox and the others, but it really does the trick. Hollow 12-20-2005, 05:50 PM whenever i have acid reflux..... if i eat apiece of bread, it seems to help, i dunno why should have told ashlee. dawsongirl 12-20-2005, 05:57 PM Nexium...the Healing Purple Pill. Anyway, OTC drugs to try: Zantac Prilosec (though it takes 2 weeks to get full effect) Axid (good drug...2 OTC pills = 1 prescription pill) Gaviscon (good too because of the foaming action it uses to neutralize the acid) Try sleeping sitting up a little. 3 or 4 pillows does the trick. That way the acid won't come up into your esophogus as easily. dawsongirl 12-20-2005, 05:59 PM He now takes prescription Prevacid every day, and it's worked like a miracle. I was on that for awhile when my doctor thought my anxiety was IBS. Expensive! But good. No side effects and very gentle. Courtnee 12-20-2005, 10:35 PM should have told ashlee. Brieannas21 12-21-2005, 12:52 AM I suffer from it, mine started 2 yrs ago when I was pregnant with my first and it never went away. It would act up when I would eat anything or nothing at all. So I started to take Pepcid and that works for me. Chelsea 12-21-2005, 12:58 AM I got a decent case of it a couple years ago, but it went away. James"Thunder"Early 12-21-2005, 01:54 AM Only at night after I've had Italian food for dinner |
