Did anyone like this show? I was looking forward to it and of course kirstie was good but the whole show just sucked the cast was horrible, the idea of the show was stupid and they made kirstie wear clothes that made her look fat! And God knows she doesn't need to look any bigger!

I was looking forward to it,and it started off alright-but the more I saw of the show, the more something seemed to be missing.

Maybe I was expecting too much from Kirstie, who had done so well on Cheers and was so good in more than one movie I had seen.

The entire cast never seemed to work well together. The show(at least the handful of episodes that I saw)had it's moments. There just weren't enough of them.

The plots didn't seem like much, the comedy was fair at best-and even though it improved slightly in the second year it went downhill quickly in the third-and I'm grateful there wasn't a fourth.Kirstie deserves more.

Yes, I as well was expecting more from Kirstie. I think she herself was fine, I just don't think the show had a great storyline. The show never held my interest.

I was waiting for Veronica's Closet and was so let down.My gosh-what kind of writers did they have? And Kirstie Alley was being totally wasted.

T,if you want to post quotations from shows after your messages, post lines from the actual shows.I am sick of seeing the same old quotes from Happy Days,Laverne & Shirley or Facts of Life.By God!

Hey, sorry if you don't like it, it's in my signature. I will try to update it more often but I'm not gonna change it everytime I post on a different board. Sorry.

I don't care what anyone says, this was the best television show ever created. Kirstie Alley and cast did more than an excelent job. I absolutely LOVE this show, and I am so glad that the USA Network airs its reruns every morning.

That's great that you don't care what other people think about the show. I know some people that are so over-protective over a stinkin show, and let their opinion affect them, and get ticked off. So that's really great that you don't!

I tend to disagree with you T, I think that this is a very clever show, that had the potential to be a fabulous show, but alas, it was cancelled. The writing style was interesting, and the cast was fabulous together

Ya know what? the more I watch the show actually the more I like it. It has strange plots unlike alot of other shows that are ALL the same. Plus I am a Kirstie Alley fan as well. I do think there was a loss of chemistry on the show though, even though Kirstie was great.

I have to disagree on the loss-of-chemistry comments. I think that throughout the series, the cast worked terrificly with eachother. I don't think it was that reason was the reason the show went down; I really don't know why it went down, but I am so glad that USA gives me my "Veronica" fix every morning!

Seriously, This was by far one of the best shows ever created. I'm so sorry it is no longer on. What does it take to bring something like this back?
Kirstie shined in this role, as she does in all her roles. And if anyone wants to debate this, contact me at kenfranck@aol.com

I love this show. I thought it was one of the funniest sitcoms on network television. I loved the cast and their character. I here many people critisize the show and say it only lasted so long because of Kirstie's popularity from Cheers and that is so wrong. If thought were true it would have only lasted one season which it didn't . and I thought it was funnier than Cheers. so stop critizises this great show.

I watched about 90% of all season 1 and season 2 episodes when they were on NBC...and so would my mom. However, season 3 came around...and I wasn't as interested anymore. The same with Suddenly Susan. I watched that for like 1 or 2 seasons, and dropped that. I would watch season 3 episodes on NBC about 35% of the time.

Wow, this is an old thread !

The show had promise, but just couldn't seem to generate any chemistry even though it seemed to have all the right ingredients.

Maybe it should've been a more risque/sexier show ? Maybe more of an HBO/Showtime thing ? Maybe it was never meant to be a network show ?

IMO the first season was great. They spoilt it in the second season by losing the ex husband, his girlfriend and the father and having Ron Silver join. Him and Kirstie had no chemistry to start with but as the season went on it picked up. The third season was quite good though I hated the new look office space. It looked too fake. Josh sat on a high rise desk that looked stupid.

I have never understood why Veronica's Closet became a monster hit. When my mom and I first saw it I think NBC wanted to have Kirstie Alley make a comeback to the sitcom world after Cheers had ended and so with Veronica's Closet marking Kirstie Alley's sitcom comeback NBC knew that with Veronica's Closet with Kirstie playing the leading character Kirstie Alley would expand her horizons and become a superstar again. I also thought that Veronica's Closet was based on Victoria's Secret and it seemed that the creators of Veronica's Closet wanted to have Kirstie Alley's character work in a store modeled after Victoria's Secret. I am surprised that Victoria's Secret didn't sue NBC for basing Veronica's Closet on their stores. But besides Cheers this is one of NBC's most underrated sitcoms that starred Kirstie Alley and will probably never be shown in reruns again

Why do you feel it was a "monster hit"? It was a decent show. A few hilarious scenes. In the 90s, comedies were in demand. It was much easier back then for a show to last half a decade.

The most obvious and easy answer is that it was placed the time-slot (https://variety.com/1997/tv/reviews/veronica-s-closet-2-1200451005/) in-between Seinfeld and ER for its first season and between Frasier and ER its second.

Season 1 - #3, averaging 24.4 million viewers a week

Season 2 - #5, averaging 19.3 million viewers a week

The third (https://books.google.com/books?id=UVX4DwAAQBAJ&pg=PA150&lpg=PA150&dq=veronica%27s+closet&source=bl&ots=CtWVwEhpmW&sig=ACfU3U1faCOz9_QyzyWOBtPjW4KJe1m92A&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjB-Mi7-7H6AhXaRDABHQhVB4Q4WhDoAXoECAIQAw#v=onepage&q=veronica's%20closet&f=false) and final season was when NBC (https://junkee.com/veronicas-closet-the-single-guy-and-other-sitcoms-that-time-forgot/22285) moved the show (http://www.tvtango.com/series/veronicas_closet/episodes) to Monday nights.

Season 3 - #86, averaging 7.97 million viewers a week

You can joke that shows like Veronica Closet (https://25yearslatersite.com/2020/01/30/shes-had-everything-the-downfall-of-veronicas-closet/), Suddenly Susan, and Caroline in the City only did well because they followed hits that people actually wanted to watch but were too lazy to change the channel when they came on.

You could write a management book about how NBC squandered its Thursday night on crappy shows. First shoving just anything in between Friends, Seinfeld, and ER. Then just repeatedly cloning the Office with critical hits that no one watched.
