This message came in this morning. I thought you would like me to pass it along.
THE LOST BATTALION
It was the darkest hour of World War I and a courageous young American army
major defied all the odds. Join us Sunday, December 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m.
CT) for the A&E Original Movie: The Lost Battalion starring Rick Schroder.
During this decisive battle, the 308th Battalion of the 77th Division was
ordered deep into German-occupied territory. Due to a terrible break in
communications, Major Whittlesey (Rick Schroder) and more than 500 young
soldiers found themselves separated from their allies, confronted by German
troops on all sides, and bombarded by friendly fire from American artillery.
With unyielding courage, Major Whittlesey and his men held on during a
grueling five-day defense. Despite precious little food, water or ammunition-
and the final loss of more than 200 soldiers-the unit stood its ground at
every juncture, and led the way to Germany's ultimate defeat.

AN EXCERPT FROM AN INTERVIEW WITH THE LOST BATTALION DIRECTOR RUSSELL MULCAHY
The Story Itself
"The script is a very heart-wrenching story in the fact that it was true.
And so bizarre that something like this happened. You know, it's sort of
every filmmakers dream, in a way. I give a lot of credit to A&E in that they
do bring stories to cable that are well worth telling. And you say, 'My God,
how did I not know about this?'
This is a very human story, a very sort of passionate, sad story from the
past. The humanity that comes out of it, I think it's still relevant today.
I think it's something to be seen and remembered."
