Pavan 12-12-2005, 05:32 PM Warner Home Video will be releasing a "TV Favorites" set of Perfect Strangers in 2006! Basically a TV Favorites set consists of six memorable episodes from the series. Now, I know it is not what us fans want, but this is a great start and if this sells well, season sets will come out! Warner Home Video needs our help in selecting episodes. Please post your top 10 episodes of the series, and the most requested ones from our lists will be passed on to WHV for consideration! Let the fan episode picking begin! We have until Friday, December 16 to make our picks--so hurry!!
EDIT: We have until 3pm ET/12 noon PT to vote on Friday, Dec. 16!
TV DVD Fan 12-12-2005, 06:23 PM I love the show but haven't seen that many eps. I have alot of studying and reading to do now so I can't search ep. guides now, but later I will, and post my picks! Definately, the pilot and the finale should be included, that's all I can tell you right now. By tomorrow at the latest, I'll have my official post up.

Hello, and welcome to the Sitcoms Online Message Boards. As a quick crash course in internet etiquette, may I simply advise you that it's not necessarily the wisest course of action to speak for others around here - it tends to lead to those who disagree to get a bit hostile, and that's just not good. :)
Welcome, though.

We've been waiting for these DVDs for 15 years, they don't need to do market research (this "fan favorite" is just that, research to see if they should bother releasing the boxsets), the ratings on this show back in the 80's/90's speak for themselves.
lets have a full series release !

Chris916 12-13-2005, 10:10 PM this is BS, screw the companies and their "favorite" sets. I love this show but will not buy this crap. i would even buy the entire series at once if they released it as a box set, but i refuse to support this practice. People don't want this. What, are they going to pull a married with children on us and have you buy those and then buy the seasons when they come out too. If they're trying to gauge the selling potential of the show, this is a poor way of doing it.
They're all my favorites, how's that?
tbriscoe 12-13-2005, 10:10 PM THE ELEVATOR - great episode!
Thanks for the suggestion!
tbriscoe 12-13-2005, 10:13 PM Damn, I forgot about THE ELEVATOR ! I agree, a great episode.
In the spirit of the season, I think we can let you add an 11th episode to your list.
Pavan 12-13-2005, 10:15 PM PAVAN -- Can you help me identify bixler23's untitled episodes so they can be counted? Thanks, Tim
I think bixler23 listed the description of each episode followed by the title of the episode. So, I think none of his/her's are untitled.
tbriscoe 12-13-2005, 10:22 PM I think bixler23 listed the description of each episode followed by the title of the episode. So, I think none of his/her's are untitled.
thanks for clarifying; I just want to make sure everyone's votes are counted since they're taking the time and making the effort.

Lanakia 12-14-2005, 01:59 AM Its so hard to choose just ten favorites!
I love all the Perfect Strangers episodes.
My 10 faves:
45 Pipe Dreams
46 Bye Bye Biki
33 Better Shop Around
38 Future Shock
39 Couch Potato
40 The Break-in
11 Lifesavers
51 The Lottery
35 The Horn Blows at Midnight
53 Aliens
Thanks for asking for our input. I hope this helps.
What I would REALLY love is all the episodes on DVD.
Mahalo, Lanakia
Waffles4 12-14-2005, 02:04 AM So if I had a top ten list of episodes from Perfect Strangers to put on a DVD with my top ten list of episodes from Perfect Strangers they would be..
1. Knock, Knock Who's There?- Season One- Episode One
Point Taken: Okay, so sue me for nostalgia. It was the first episode, people. Even though, thanks to USA and Nick at Nite, the first few episodes we have seen quite a few times in the past few years, but it's the first episode and deserves to be on the DVD.
2. Just Desserts- Season Three- Episode Forty-Four
Point Taken: When you put the filling in, just make sure you wear a grin. You know it's stuck in your head. Very well done episode and Perfect Strangers humor at its finest.
3. Pipe Dreams- Season Three- Episode Forty-Five
Point Taken: From reading over most of the lists so far, this episode seems to be on most of them. Sure, its a cliched routine, but with Balki and Larry fixing the bathroom, its pure hilarity. Classic episode from a classic, and sometimes underrated show.
4. Father Knows Best Part One- Season Five- Episode Seventy-Nine
5. Father Knows Best Part Two- Season Five- Episode Eighty
Pont Taken: When Perfect Strangers first began in reruns, I always waited for this two part episode. It is a very captivating two-parter and is very exciting at times. Even when the dangrous moments occur, there are laughs galore.
6. Nightmare Vacation- Season Five- Episode Eighty-Eight
Point Taken: Vacation- Larry style. Pure Larry, his luck is not always that good and his luck with vacations is definitely not that good. Though, this isn't the river rafting or the snowstorm, it's a doosy of a pickle. Paradise, it isn't.
7. The Men Who Knew Too Much Part One- Season Six- Episode 103
8. The Men Who Knew Too Much Part Two- Season Six- Episode 104
Point Taken: This showed the range of this great show. It could go anywhere and still have the same effect. Plus, with the song "I Love LA," it's an all around winner.
9. Speak Memory- Season Six- Episode 113
Point Taken: My favorite episode of them all! When I was little, I would go around my house screaming "Hello, hello, my name is Cousin Larry Appleton. How are you? Fine." It is such a great episode and the comedy is right on. Two thumbs way up for this episode. If this episode isn't on the DVD...I'm still going to buy it anyway. But it definitely should be on because it is without a doubt, Perfect Strangers at its best and shows the wit and humor of the show.
10. Out of Sync- Season Six- Episode 114
Point Taken: Fresh, fresh, young, young, Balki B. Really well done episode that keeps you interested throughout. Very unique story and worth a part in the top ten list.
And I have an eleventh one...
11. Yes, Sir, That's My Baby- Season Seven- Episode 136
Point Taken: It's ashame, but the later seasons, don't get any recognition. I've only seen episodes once or twice of the two final seasons, but this episode I truly remember was hilarious. Balki and Larry as babies!! Come on. You are probably cracking up just reading that line. "I don't want to play with Booki Cat." Once again...baby Larry!
So there you go. That's what I think. But you can't really enjoy the Perfect Strangers experience without season sets. Season sets, now that's perfect.
nocomments 12-14-2005, 02:38 AM So many good episodes, but I guess if I have to pick 10:
1. Knock Knock, Who's There (Season 1, Episode 1)
2. Hunks Like Us (Season 2, Episode 2)
3. The Rent Strike (Season 2, Episode 10)
4. Karate Kids (Season 3, Episode 8)
5. Crimebusters (Season 4, Episode 12)
6. Games People Play (Season 4, Episode 13)
7. Poetry In Motion (Season 5, Episode 6)
8. Disorderly Orderlies (Season 5, Episode 14)
9. Family Feud (Season 6, Episode 6)
10. The Wedding (Season 7, Episode 2)
Though they should just release season 1 if they want to put just 6 episodes on a DVD. Season 1 only had 6 episodes, after all. I guess to each their own..I'll buy this one either way.

cpc7857 12-14-2005, 01:52 PM I thought it would be hard to pick 10 that I'd even remember since I haven't seen the show in so many years, but I was surprised how many I recalled while reading through the descriptions (I started a list and had to narrow it to 10).

MRE76 12-14-2005, 06:16 PM I'd be happy with any of the episodes already mentioned. This was an awesome show, Warner Bros. execs, so I'd happily buy any Perfect Strangers dvd you release! ((I'd love the season sets most!!))
Erdricks_Boxers 12-14-2005, 09:10 PM While I echo the sentiment that I would prefer to see full seasons released, I will show my support by buying this collection when it is available. Here are the shows I hope are on it:
1) Piano Movers Season 4, Episode 4
2) Up a Lazy River Part 1 Season 4, Episode 6
3) Up a Lazy River Part 2 Season 4, Episode 7
4) Two Men and a Cradle Season 2, Episode 8
5) Weigh to go Buddy Season 3, Episode 2
6) The Rent Strike Season 2 Episode 10
7) The Break Up Season 6, Episode 3 (the episode where Larry and Jennifer get engaged!)
8) Three’s a crowd Season 5 Episode 17
9) Wedding Bell Blues Season 4, Episode 24
10) Karate Kids Season 3 Episode 8
johnkoenig90 12-14-2005, 09:18 PM Come on Warner! You can do better than this! This show has a huge fan base and season sets would sell like bibi-bobkas! I can never understand why a huge corporation like this isn't willing to be a little daring with such a great show, one of the best I've ever watched.
No way I can identify my 10 favorites cause there are so many. I guess I would buy a "best of" but what a bummer it would be. I guess Warner will go bankrupt if they release a 3 dvd set of the first season and only a few tens of thousands sell...
C-RAD 12-14-2005, 09:36 PM I Love Perfect Strangers but this best of idea is dumb. The Studio is looking for six episodes. There are only six episodes in the first season. Why don't they just release the 1st season?
Knock knock...whose there s1 ep1
Picture this s1 ep2
First date s1 ep3
Baby you can drive my car s1 ep4
check this s1 ep5
Happy Birthday s1 ep6
Those are my picks (all six season one episodes)
I NOW THIS TITLE WILL SELL!!!! THE BEST OF IS A BAD IDEA. THE SEASONS ARE A GREAT IDEA. One more thing I can't pick ten. The entire series has earned it's place in tv history and it deserves to be on DVD. Why is it that the NOT so good tv shows get released to DVD (has season sets) whith a second thought. Sienfeld is coming out real fast (i like seinfeld) but i see that on tv all time. I'm 24 Perfect Strangers frist aired when i was five. I remember almost every episode I don't want to remember every episode. I want to relive them. unlike Seinfeld and Ray You can't see reruns of PS. Don't second guess Perfect Strangers it has over 2,000 votes at www.tvshowsondvd.com
laureigh 12-14-2005, 10:42 PM 1. Pipe Dreams -- Season 3 Episode 17

10. Up, Up and Away (2) Season 8 Episode 6
SO Games 4 Us 12-14-2005, 10:57 PM My Picks:
* "Knock Knock, Who's There?"(#1)
Larry Appleton has just settled in his new Chicago apartment after leaving home of one of nine kids and took a job at the corner discount store working for his greedy landlord Mr. Twinkacetti until he can eventually become a photo journalist. But one evening, Balki Bartokomous, his distant cousin and a Mediterranean sheep herder from the island of Mypos shows up on his door step looking for a place to stay. So Larry takes him in and tries to get him a job at Twinkacetti's store which may mean risking his own job.
* "Up on a Roof" (#26)
Larry enters a photo contest and has the idea of a perfect picture. But to take it, him and Balki have to go up on a roof and shoot it before a storm comes in.
* "The Break In" (#40)
Balki accidently delivers Larry's offensive article to the publisher. So they break in late at night to retrieve it and end up on the ledge dealing with someone trying to commit suicide.

* "Aliens" (#53)
Larry and Balki throw a Halloween party with their friends and after six hours of watching scary movies, Larry wakes up and discovers that Balki is an alien from "Planet Mypos" and is turning everyone into Mypiots by putting vests on them.
* "Because They're Cousins" (#85)
Balki's cousin Bartok come to visit from Mypos via Los Angeles for the last six months. Bartok looks just like Balki except after being in LA, he lost his accent and got a cool attitude, and he has a money-making scheme and tries to take Balki's money.
* "Nightmare Vacation" (#88)
Larry found the perfect vacation and Balki, Jennifer and Mary Anne decide to give him one more chance with planning vacations. They go to a tropical resort, Club Paradise with broken walls in the hotel room and it is disrupted with a hurricane and Larry can't admit that he's made another mistake.

Mypiot 12-15-2005, 05:37 AM Having been a devoted PS fan since the 80's, I agree with everyone who says we need all 150 episodes on DVD as opposed to 6. Nevertheless, it's important to work with what we have and get the best episodes out there so fans will demand more. Having reviewed all the episodes, I carefully selected the 10 that I think best represent the show.
1. Just Desserts -- Episode 44 (Season 3)
This hilarious episode has it all--Myposian culture as well as physical, verbal, and musical comedy. "You bet your Bibbibabkas" became a catchphrase after this one.
2. The Selling of Mypos -- Episode 87 (Season 5)
I can't believe more people aren't voting for this. How can we forget the Hongi Bongi!!
3. Citizenship I/II -- Episodes 128/129 (Season 7)
Bronson Pinchot in a dual role as Balki and his Mama couldn't be funnier; plus it's the only episode where we see the island of Mypos.
4. Going Once, Going Twice -- Episode 134 (Season 7)
Bar none, the best example of physical talent on the show; it's amazing the lengths they went to to protect that bottle of wine.
5. Hunks Like Us -- Episode 8 (Season 2)
This classic one draws you in from start to finish. You can just feel their pain from the workout; also the first appearance of Jennifer and Mary Anne.
6. The Baby Shower -- Episode 145 (Season 8)
High on the Midolcrampabloatalos root, Balki and Larry were never crazier.
7. The Ring -- Episode 105 (Season 6)
The way they sneak around the girls to switch diamond rings is priceless and makes this episode unique.
8. Stress Test -- Episode 140 (Season 7)
Put Larry and Balki in a psychiatric clinic together and you get everything from musical renditions to temper tantrums.
9. Blast from the Past -- Episode 90 (Season 5)
I laughed a lot at this episode. If there were ever a third Perfect Stranger, Marvin Burmon would be him.
10. Wild Turkey -- Episode 130 (Season 7)
It took them until the 7th season to make a Thanksgiving episode, but there's no funnier holiday episode than this one.
Honorable Mention -- The Lottery -- Episode 51 (Season 4)
I know everyone loves this one, and I wish I could have fit it on my list, but Wild Turkey is slightly better in my opinion.
jms1775 12-15-2005, 06:42 PM 1. Just Desserts - Episode 44 Season 3
2. Up Up and Away (1) - Episode 149 Season 8
3. Up Up and Away (2) - Episode 150 Season 8
4. The Elevator - Episode 138 Season 7
5. This New House - Episode 123 Season 7
6. Blind Alley - Episode 65 Season 4
7. The Lottery - Episode 51 Season 4
8. Hunks Like Us - Episode 8 Season 2
9. Tooth or Consequences - Episode 76 Season 5
10. Piano Movers - Episode 54 Season 4

smiley8 12-16-2005, 03:26 PM I am absolutely thrilled to hear that Warner Bros. will be coming out with a Perfect Strangers DVD. I wonder why they haven't done this before.....it was such a TV favorite and many of the other, less popular TV shows are already on DVD. This show was absolutely histerical. With great writing and superbly- talented actors with perfect chemistry, it was destined for greatness and leaves fond memories in my heart and mind. I can't wait to buy it! Here are my 10 favorite episodes:
#1 - Piano Movers
#2 - Pipe Dreams
#3 - The Lottery
#4 - Assertive Training
#5 - Just Desserts
#6 - Night School Confidential
#7 - Better Shop Around
#8 - Games People Play
#9 - Climb Every Bilboard
#10 - Car Wars
Pavan 12-16-2005, 04:25 PM Thanks to everyone who contributed! The episode selection process is now over. And we are very pleased by the turnout! WHV will let us know which episodes will make it on this set. It will most likely be 6 of the top 10 you all picked. I'll try to get WHV to mention somewhere in the packaging "episodes hand-picked by fans at SitcomsOnline.com" so everyone here gets their due. And to all the newbies who came by, we hope you continue to post and/or browse the boards.
Stay tuned for the final results of the top 10 later today.
Pavan 12-16-2005, 05:04 PM Here are the final episodes that will be passed on to WHV for selection.
1. "The Lottery"
2. "Pipe Dreams"
3. "Just Desserts"
4. "Knock Knock, Who's There?"
5. "Piano Movers"
6. "Hunks Like Us"
7. "The Elevator"
8. "Up on a Roof"
9. "Aliens"
10. "Tooth or Consequences"
"This New House" will also be submitted as a back-up, if "The Elevator" doesn't make the final cut, so we get 'something' from the final two seasons, which has been rarely seen since the original airings on ABC. It's up to WHV on that.
We can expect 6 of those 10 episodes probably on the set! I omitted the two-part episodes that were highly ranked (Snow Way to Treat a Lady and Up Up and Away) since then it would be likely we would have gotten cheated with only 5 episodes, as the 2-parter would have counted as 2 episodes.
Thanks again for everyone's help and please buy the set when it comes out on June 27!
troopoleon8897 12-16-2005, 07:22 PM Now That I think of it they should have just released the first 6 episodes that way we would have had The Complete First Season and it would cost the same to make as a favorites collection and would also test the waters...
tbriscoe 12-16-2005, 07:56 PM Warner Home Video will be releasing a "TV Favorites" set of Perfect Strangers in 2006! Basically a TV Favorites set consists of six memorable episodes from the series.

Mulva 12-17-2005, 10:33 PM I got here too late to vote, but the episodes that were selected are pretty much what I would have voted for anyway... Except I would have put Karate Kids in place of the pilot episode. That's always been one of my all-time favorites.
I hope to be able to buy this soon... And I hope even more to see season sets in the future.
