I saw a segment on Dateline about this a few years back....how many companies give you less product for the same money.

I thought this as I put in Eggo waffles in the toaster this morning for my husband. They've shrunk. Candy bars, ice cream bars (especially ice cream sandwiches), etc.

We have a local pie company here called 'Table Talk', and they make individual pies. These things have become almost microscopic in size.

Devil dogs, Funny Bones, Yodels...these baked goods are a fraction of what they used to be.

Yup! Juicy Fruit and the like are no longer .25 cent. Nature Valley Trail Mix bars are the same price but noticeably smaller. :rolleyes:

Dannon Yogurt cut out a full 2oz, so I buy Breyer's now.

The make cameras as thin as a piece of paper and they cost more. :lol: I kid of course, but I agree that products are getting smaller. Perhaps, it's the companies way of telling us we are too fat? ;)

Wow, that's a coincidence. I used to give my husband two, but now I pop three in the toaster for him.

Dunkin Donuts is a joke too. I always enjoyed a plain donut, but now it's kid size.

If anyone here has ever been to a Boston Market restaurant and used to love the chicken carver sandwiches, then you know allllllllllll about this.

I used to LOVE those things, man...they were made fresh right there, and they were like around 8-9 inches long, if my memory's right.

Then, all of a sudden one day, I went to get one and was HORRIFIED at what I got. It was this crappy, TINY little sandwich...at least half the size of what it used to be. It was also prepared differently, and just had more of an overall 'fast food' feeling about it.

I still miss the old one. :(

For years, I've been buying those Perdue rotisserie chickens, already cooked -- in the deli section of the grocery store. Different flavors...BBQ, Italian or lemon pepper.

They were so convenient for dinner. Just cook rice or potato and a vegetable and be all set.

The were such a good size and costs $4.99 for years. Now, they're tiny and cost $6.99. My husband can eat one himself.

I noticed that my Maxwell House coffee used to come in one pound cans. Now, it's 11.5 oz.

I didn't notice any reduction in price though, despite the 4.5 oz shortage.

Weird how that works, cause portions of food and drink at fast food places are getting bigger...and bigger...and bigger.

I remember when Archway cookies used to be wayyyy bigger than they were. The sugar cookies were as big as the your hand and they were HEAVY and thick too. They used to be so good. Now they are just "regular" sized, don't taste as good anymore, and cost more than ever.

I remember when Hostess cupcakes used to be pretty big. Also the Mallo Cups and Smoothie cups used to be pretty big too.

There is a local candy company called Giannos and while they make great candy they started to make microscopic pieces this past year and still charge you $5.00 a pound for it. Some of the candy texture and recipes seem to be different. I no longer like their white chocolate pretzel clouds and they were my favorite.

Even compact seem so thin, but they have been for a long time. When they first started coming out in '80's they were thick enough to be cup saucers. Even the plastic of the jewel cases were really thick and not flexible or bendy-like.

Even newspapers are so thin. If you try to read my local paper beside a lamp the next page bleeds right through the light.

One things I hate about vehicles now is they don't give you metal door handles or metal mirror frames anymore the doors. It seems to be a thick plastic now and naturally the car companies want $2 billion a car.

That's one thing that annoys me...you buy these so-called family sized things at the store (frozen or fresh), and most of the time, we have to buy two of them. And there's only 3 of us and we don't eat that much!
