Does anyone else think the Star Trek DVDs are a bit expensive? I'm a fan of the original show, and I would already have all three seasons if not for the price. I hear there are a lot of extras. I know a lot of people complain that some DVDs have no extras, but I would have been satisfied with uncut episodes at a reasonable price and forget the extras.

I have always wanted to start a Star Trek DVD collection, but at 100+ bucks a season?

No way.

I agree - $100+ per season, especially for shows that have been syndicated relentlessly since their creation, is way too high.

Generally, I won't pay more than $50 for a full season of a show, though I do make one exception - The Wire. It's just too damn good.

My roommate and I just got a DVR package upgrade with Time Warner Cable.
Now we record Spike TV's daily Next Gen/DS9 block, so right now, I'm not too upset that I have no Star Trek DVD collection.

I agree, they're WAAAAY to expensive!!!!! I mean $100!!!! GOOD LORD!!!! That's why, as soon as I get my DVD recorder working, and I get cable, I plan to record it off of SPIKE TV.

That is good news. I guess they had to come down in price sooner or later.

OMG!!! Guess what I'll be buying. I can't wait to get TNG: 1,2 and 3. And DS9:2 and 3. I was a fool; I bought DS9 for $120 when it first came out in 2003. This is great. Although my least favorite seasons of Both shows, I must get them...Does anyone know how long the price cut is for?

Don't feel bad. I bought all seven seasons of TNG and DS9, seasons one and two of TOS and season five of Voyager at Best Buy for $100 a piece. Of course, that is when I had that kind of money to spend.

Just checked Amazon, here's the link:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=nb_ss_d/104-0918357-0339948?url=search-alias%3Ddvd&field-keywords=star+trek&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=Go

For The Original Series, the cost new is reduced from MSRP of $379.98 to $341.99. Still over $100/season new

It also lists "New and Used" starting at $256.85...for all 3 seasons.

Individually, the seasons are listed at:

Season 1: New $103.99 and Used & new from $68.55
Season 2: New $103.99 Used & new from $93.99
Season 3: New $103.99 Used & new from $76.99

They also have, of course, collections from all incarnations of the show...

I'd love to own the original series, but I still think that those prices as shown are too high. I didn't see any of T.O.S. for $52, which is not to say that they weren't listed there. They had pages and pages of listings for all of the Star Trek series, I didn't go thru all the pages...
