View Full Version : Pointless episodes
Tundra Wolf 12-10-2005, 06:27 PM You know what I'm talking about... Those pointless, stupid episodes.
The one where Cliff and his 200-year-old friends are bowling, then they play some kinda baseball game in the house, then Clair walks in and gives Cliff a mean look, and the episode ends. WHAT IS THE POINT OF THESE EPISODES? The writers of these episodes must've been high when they wrote them.

LOL - I know...i hated these episodes...there was one where Rudy had a female friend over and Cliff played pirates with them, something like that, I was so bored outta my mind.
PrettyinPink55 12-10-2005, 07:03 PM I really didn't like the Hillman episodes.
jenjen 12-20-2005, 07:09 PM Yeah, I just saw the Hillman episode where thay all went to the graduation... no one's graduation in particular, just to hang out with the President..must have been a slow production day...ZZzzzzzz
PrettyinPink55 12-21-2005, 12:41 AM Yeah, I just saw the Hillman episode where thay all went to the graduation... no one's graduation in particular, just to hang out with the President..must have been a slow production day...ZZzzzzzz
Exactly! And it was the president of the university speaking... zzzzz
Mr. Monitor 12-22-2005, 12:54 PM Is it because you couldn't relate to those episodes?

Hey I love that episode-lol. It was nice to see just the men chilling together and acting like children all over again by playing ball in the living room. I really like that episode a lot. I was kind of uoset when Clair and the other women came back home.
PrettyinPink55 12-22-2005, 12:57 PM Is it because you couldn't relate to those episodes?
I think it was that and also because for the longest time they had him speaking and nothing else going on.

i think Mr. Monitor was talking about the episode with Cliff and his Friends playing ball in the living room. I like when the man said-"Ok are you ready Cliff? This ball is coming all the way from jamaico-LOL

Oh!  :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:
TVFactFan 12-22-2005, 04:32 PM A Pointless episode was any episode that revolved around rudy and her friends during season 1 and 2.
PrettyinPink55 12-22-2005, 08:37 PM Awww, I thought those episodes were so cute! Like when Cliff took Rudy and her friends to that fancy restaurant!
GeorgiaboyJeff! 12-23-2005, 03:27 PM The ep with all of the pregnant men was not only funny to me but I found it stupid. What was the moral of the story?? Someone must have been on something when they wrote that.
Also the one where Rudy is reading a story & she dreams about this fantasy world where Rudy is a princess & the rest of the family are villagers or something like that.

Any episode that revolved around Rudy before 1989 was UNWATCHABLE
jenjen 12-23-2005, 05:48 PM Is it because you couldn't relate to those episodes?
Nah...I could identify...I have nothing against college..it's just that the episode dragged....the President wasn't a very interesting character. It was like "yippeee the Huxtables are going on a field trip!" It may have been more interesting to focus on Denise's freshman experience (that was pre- a different world)
80 percent of the Cosby episodes I enjoyed (except the last season)
Ireneparalegal 12-23-2005, 06:03 PM Exactly! And it was the president of the university speaking... zzzzz
I think it was bill cosby's way of showing someone "he likes"...u know, kinda giving someone a pat on the back and therefore, "let's make a whole damn show around it"........B O R I N G ......ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz:o
i hated hated hated the eps that revolved around cliff and his old boring jazz buddies and also the pregnant men one, wtf was that?
Ireneparalegal 12-23-2005, 06:17 PM Another one i hated was the pinochle episode..men playing games, AND???? WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL??? Because Bill Cosby loves to play pinochle in real life, he thinks that makes for good t.v.?????
Southern Hellraiser 12-23-2005, 06:19 PM I really didn't like the Hillman episodes.
me either :sleep2:
Another one i hated was the pinochle episode..men playing games, AND???? WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL??? Because Bill Cosby loves to play pinochle in real life, he thinks that makes for good t.v.?????
i think that bill cosby got cocky and just assumed any plot he came up with was interesting

I agree I didn't appreciate being taken to hIllman, i just wanted to WATCH the Huxtables at Hillman-lol
Ireneparalegal 12-23-2005, 06:38 PM i think that bill cosby got cocky and just assumed any plot he came up with was interesting
Cocky is the word for him...he figures as long as he is in the episode or he is controlling the episode, it must be fun to watch. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!
TVFactFan 12-23-2005, 06:42 PM I do want to see the ep again when Cliff nd his buddies are in the living room playing ball. I like how they all became KIDS again-lol
snl 70s show fan 12-24-2005, 02:23 AM i cant stand the pregnant men ep and also that stupid one with cliff and the talking sandwich
PrettyinPink55 12-24-2005, 02:30 AM Another one i hated was the pinochle episode..men playing games, AND???? WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL??? Because Bill Cosby loves to play pinochle in real life, he thinks that makes for good t.v.?????
See, I could take the pregnant men but the talking to the sandwich??? That was too strange.
Also, you brought up another one I really disliked: the pinochle episode! Anytime his old friends came to visit, I didn't like those episodes very much.
CWDogg 12-24-2005, 08:10 AM 1. When Cliff had the dream where the muppets were working at the hospital.
It was like a bad episode of the "Muppet Show". I kept waiting for Kermit to show up.
2. When they went to the community center and Tony Orlando was working there.
3.When Rudy's friends hamster stayed over and it died

I was amazed at how much Tony Orlando changed from the 70's when I watched him in that episode. It looked nothing like him. He no longer had the long mustache, or the long hair.
AtlantaBravesFan29 12-25-2005, 06:39 PM I was amazed at how much Tony Orlando changed from the 70's when I watched him in that episode. It looked nothing like him. He no longer had the long mustache, or the long hair. He wore a beard on that show. Was this a pilot to a show that Tony Orlando was supposed to star in with him being the manager of the community center and he adopts the young boy?
PrettyinPink55 12-25-2005, 07:09 PM It could be. It sure seemed like it was a pilot.
jenjen 12-28-2005, 01:56 AM Another one i hated was the pinochle episode..men playing games, AND???? WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL??? Because Bill Cosby loves to play pinochle in real life, he thinks that makes for good t.v.?????
Yeah, I'd rather watch potatoes grow....paint dry...my cat sleep...you get the picture.
But I LOVED I would say 80 percent of the Cosby show, which is pretty good!

I think I like abt 70 percent of the show...
I know what you mean, even a very very boring day of television couldn't get me to watch those God-awful episodes of pinochle, Hillman visits, etc.:bonk:
shrinkwrapped 01-02-2006, 05:23 PM i cant stand the pregnant men ep and also that stupid one with cliff and the talking sandwich
Oh yes, I definitely hated that episode. I think that's the one when he has a nightmare and he has this bizarre dream with him giving birth to a sandwich. I also didn't care for the one when they were in the garden picking fluberoos.
TVFactFan 01-02-2006, 05:36 PM I don't like the ep when Pam and Charmaine was helping the Old Ladies boycott some Grocery Store
TvFantatic1980 01-04-2006, 09:19 PM He wore a beard on that show. Was this a pilot to a show that Tony Orlando was supposed to star in with him being the manager of the community center and he adopts the young boy?
I read somewhere that that episode was supposed to be a pilot episode for a show starring Ava Maris(the woman who played Tony's girlfriend) and Tony Orlando but it never came to fruitation.
Ireneparalegal 01-05-2006, 04:41 PM I don't like the ep when Pam and Charmaine was helping the Old Ladies boycott some Grocery Store
that should have been on a Different World instead of Cosby...i mean, in their world, everything WAS PERFECT!!! Different World, well, it was different. DW was awesome. it too had it's pointless episodes.
Moonlight Lady 01-05-2006, 04:57 PM I hated that Pregnant Men episode. That was not only pointless, but, disturbing. I did NOT need to see any of those guys like that. :barf:
Ireneparalegal 01-08-2006, 11:06 PM all of the episodes of Sondra and her being pregnant...WHY??? because it was ridiculous and stupid to have a young lady who just got married to become pregnant when she is still in graduate school with a husband who is also still in school, who each want to have a professional career and they can barely afford a decent apt. They lived in that crappy apt. with the landlord who didn't want to fix anything. Why Bill Cosby thought it was necessary to show how "wonderful" that would be for the show, in reality, it's stupid.
Not only were these episodes great, they did teach something, not every episode had to save the world. It was just fun watching. This show didn't have to rely on the race card, put down each other's race. This so , no matter what the eppi was about every day life in this one particular family and their friends, some days something exciting was happening, other days not so, but it was still enjoyable to watch. The reason I love this show so much, now just as much as when it was orignally on, is because it was a family I could see myself living with. Unlike shows with black characters from the 70's and even the early 80's they didn't once feel the need to make mention that this was a black family, anything done to them wasn't because they were a black family, they were just a family that enjoyed each other. The Hillman episodes are great, because they showed a world outside of the Huxtable's livingroom with other great people. I just loved this show. The only part were I lost a little faith is in the last year when they started bringing in the new characters like Pam and her friends. Besides that it was all good.
Ireneparalegal 01-09-2006, 12:03 PM Anything having to do with Olivia...:crybaby:
