Oh Jesus. Law & Order. I don't think it will ever die. All of these years, ever since I can remember, hearing the opening music of Law & Order just fills me with dread. Lmao

Anyway, I'm thinking something like Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune will run the longest. Although The Simpsons have gone on forever, you still have the fans who think the quality of the show has really gone downhill.

However, I've never once heard a Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune fan say "Damnit, this show just really doesn't hold the appeal that it used to."

EDIT: Well oops. None of those options were there before and this was a completely different question when I originally answered it. I don't -prefer- those shows, but I just named ones I thought would never go away.

That 70's Show...still watching it after all these years...lol. I watched it from the first day it debuted in 1998.

As far as which will run the longest it's between Simpsons and LawOrder . . . and the Simpsons will edge them out 22 seasons to 20.

I did not realize According to Jim was in its fifth season. The last time I saw it was in its first.

The Simpsons will be around for many years to come.

L&O proved that a show can change thier cast repeatedly, and still remain popular with fans, so they will probably be around indefinatly.

As for which show will end up lasting the longest, it is a close race between The Simpsons and Law & Order.

The Simpsons has an edge in that it is a cartoon which only needs voices, but God forbid one of the main voice actors dies. Because that would be it.

Law & Order has gone through a buttload of cast changes and keeps pumping along. If losing Jerry Orbach doesn't do it in, I don't see what will. (though if they lose Sam Waterston, that could be a major blow).

I agree with you. And the Price is Right. Bob Barker will be dead and they'll prop his mummified corpse up on the stage and the show will still be huge!

"That 70's Show" - I don't miss an episode anymore. However, I think this will be either the last or second to last season of the show. I also think "King of the Hill", "The King of Queens" and "Will & Grace" are in their final seasons.

I'm not fan of the Law & Order series, but it will probably be around the longest.

I like "The Simpsons" but I am so tired of it right now. I haven't watched it in years, but I still have a soft spot for the early years.

about long-lasting, 7th Heaven, Alias and Will And Grace are definately in their last year, I wouldn't be surprised if Charmed, King Of The Hill (Mike Judge recently said he believes this is the last year), Malcolm, Yes Dear and Bernie Mac call it a series at the end of this season too. I have heard that West Wing's ratings are atrocious this season as well.

Best, I'd say Simpsons even though I rarely watch new episodes these days.

CSI could likely join L&O, ER and Simpsons into the double-digit seasons as well, the ratings are still phenomenal and it likely could survive major cast changes the way ER has been able to.

I doubt George will ever return to ER (personally I find him a hypocrite for saying he was going to stay with the show to the tail end of it's run and not leave it for a movie career, and then lo and behold, he does just that), Julianna Margules and Eriq LaSalle may eventually though.

I agree with you all the way but, I stil wish he would come back to me he kept ER a whole, I loved his character He was the top reason why I watched it at that point in time...

5 to 6 season shows are not considered long-running, they're considered average. Just like a 4 season show isn't considered short-lived.
