right now Joaquin Phoenix is getting great reviews for his performance as Johnny Cash in Walk The Line.....

Jennifer Lopez played slain Tejano singer Selena in.... Selena and suddenly got the ego bite thinking that because she played a singer in a movie, she should be a singer in real life (with that logic, I don't trust being in the same room with Anthony Hopkins cause he might want to eat me). Now the same thing with Jamie Foxx, he won an Oscar playing Ray Charles in Ray, so now he's assuming that because he won an Oscar playing a singer (I wonder how long he'll milk this Oscar thing... Marisa Tomei won an Oscar too and nowadays I'd say she's better known for her one season on A Different World than for her award winning film career), that apparently that means he's a singer in real life. Judging from Lopez and Foxx, I am curious how long it'll be before Joaquin comes out with an album of his own because he'll forget that people were going to see him AS JOHNNY CASH, not HIM SINGING.

Jamie Foxx already released a music album 10 years before Ray. He charted with "Peep This" in 1994.

1. Peep This (Edited)
2. Experiment
3. Miss You
4. Dog House
5. Infatuation
6. Baby Don't Cry
7. Precious
8. Your Love
9. Summertime
10. If You Love Me
11. Don't Let The Sun Go Down
12. Peep This Out (Outro)
13. Light A Candle

I have the soundtrack for "Walk The Line" and it is remarkable how he captured the inner soul of Johnny Cash. I doubt he will release anything musical, because he knows his sound will be compared to Johnny Cash. As a matter of fact, I heard a rumor that he is thinking abt retiring...I hope not!!! I love him. He is awesome. Jennifer Lopez is a joke. She can't sing for s**t!! It's all that electronic crap that is enhancing her voice.
As for what actor will come out with a CD, it may be Reese Witherspoon; she said she was approached by record companies after they heard her sing in the movie.

Jennifer Lopez tried to pick up where Selena left off and...failed miserably.

I don't think Joaquin would try and start a music career. I don't know why I think that but I just have a feeling that he isn't like that. I think he'd stick to his acting roots.

Joaquin Phoenix was awesome as Johnny Cash, but he should stick to acting.

Yup I noticed that. The boutiques, perfume, CDs, etc. I think J. Lo does better acting than singing, but that's just my opnion.

Sorry, a discussion mentioning Selena, I have to join in haha I haven't seen "Walk the Line" yet but I want to badly! Was it good?

Joaquin appears to take his profession more seriously... I don't think he'll venture into music.

Walk the Line was amazing from my POV...but if you're a hardcore Johnny Cash fan, you might be disappointed that the movie lacks any real depth (At least that's what I heard other people say).

Slightly off-topic(but not really), but Michael Jackson once played a character in a film that could sing without any music, acapella. So Michael went on to sing acapella in about four other songs.......:p He'd NEVER sang acapella before, and he decided, "Hey, I sang acapella in this film, I should go on to do more acapella singing!" :p  ;) What if acapella didn't work out? ;)

Apparently, his older brother, River, was also a pretty good singer.

I bought the soundtrack and I love it. His singing is fabulous. However, he sang to try and emulate Johnny Cash, it is not his "real" singing voice. He had vocal coaches and he did a lot of work studying Johnny Cash's style of singing, which really isn't singing, but telling a story musically.
I hear the soundtrack so much because the music is great and hearing Joaquin sing, is priceless. We may never get to hear that again.

Reese Witherspoon's singing is awesome as well. She has a beatiful voice. She has songs on the soundtrack as well.

Not to mention, in his next album after this film, he sang eight songs solo, with no backup help.... The album had 11 songs......;)
