David Janollari announced today that repeats of "Beauty and the Geek", which will return to the WB schedule on Thursday, January 12, 2006, will temporarily replace "What I Like About You" and the first "Reba" repeat on Friday, January 13.
The "social experiment" series produced by Ashton Kutcher which was such a ratings smash for the WB back in the summer of 2005 will begin another eight-week run on January 12, where it will play in the 9PM (8PMC) hour. In a press release for the return of "Beauty", WB Entertainment President David Janollari said "We also plan to double-pump ‘Geek’ in the Friday eight o'clock hour, a strong sampling opportunity that will also enable us to finish the season with a fresh string of ‘What I Like About You’ episodes."
It is not known yet whether "What I Like About You" repeats will continue to be showcased in the 6PM Sunday hour as WILAY goes to hiatus. But the fact remains that after Friday's new episode, "For Love or Money", there will not be another firstrun WILAY episode until at least March 10, 2006, at which time WILAY should begin airing its remaining eight episodes (just in time for some major synergy with Amanda Bynes' new film "She's the Man"). Another important observation: all-new "What I Like About You" will be absent from a sweeps period (February 2006) for the first time ever.
With WILAY gone from the firstrun scene for three months after Friday's broadcast, it will be interesting to see how many people come back on March 10th for the final eight episodes of the season -- and that factor can and should spell out whether the WB should commission a fifth season.
