Kane 12-07-2005, 02:02 PM Does anyone know what ever happened to these two folks? Did they ever find that stalker? I remember reading a post related to the case (probably at imdb.com) in the not-too-distant past. It said to the effect that someone contacted an Ohio newspaper (the state where the incidents took place), asking about the Wacker case. The response he or she received from the paper in question was that things have been quiet with the Wackers of late. Maybe the unknown stalker has given up? Only time will tell. Zero 12-08-2005, 12:28 AM I wonder how old Those two are now. Probably in their 80's. Beetlejuice69 12-10-2005, 04:54 PM That case still spooks me. ouphe 12-16-2005, 05:36 PM I live in Stark County, Ohio (about 8-10 miles away from the Wackers), and I have to tell you: many people around here feel it was an inside job, i.e. Mrs. Wacker's tormentor was someone close to her. This is not necessarily my opinion, but many others do believe this. Almost makes you feel guilty to even suspect that, but when you look at the case closely, you have to wonder. Curiously, the stalker seemed to always know, in advance, the next move the Sheriff was going to make. crystaldawn 12-16-2005, 05:45 PM Very interesting ouphe! We have been trying to find out more info about this case but no luck. Can you tell us how much longer (after the segment was televised) that the harassing went on? Do you know if the Wacker's are still alive? I had suspected also that it was someone who knew the family well, maybe a family member, but I never thought for a minute that the husband was responsible. ouphe 12-19-2005, 11:03 AM Very interesting ouphe! Hello crystaldawn, I apologize, but in all honesty, I know little more than what was reported on UM. To the best of my knowledge, they are still alive, but I can't guarantee that with any degree of certainty. The local paper keeps an online database of obituaries and such, and I could find nothing. Feel free to check (http://www.cantonrep.com/) for yourself. I once heard that they moved away, but I have no way of proving that. I must admit, I tend to side with the local speculation regarding an insider. If you knew the area the Wackers live in (as I do), you would understand how seemingly impossible it would be to pull off the stunts this perpetrator did. Small, practically crime-free, very close-knit community, where everybody literally knows everybody. You can't even check your mail without someone else witnessing it. The Sheriff at the time was a no-nonsense, hard-nosed type of guy, and his department invested tremendous resources in this case, all to no avail. I remember the case when it was "hot," and the local community's reaction to it. Any time it would be mentioned, people would just look at each other and say nothing, as if they knew what was going on but were unwillingly to speak it aloud. Pretty much the same aura today, any time it is brought up. It's all speculation, of course, but it seems an insider is the only logical conclusion. crystaldawn 12-19-2005, 11:27 AM Thank you ouphe. Actually I did email the editor of the CantonRep last week inquiring if he had any details. He replied back that he did not have a staff that could do research like that. Maybe they finally decided to move out of that house. I wonder if the harassment stopped when they did. ouphe 12-20-2005, 01:25 PM Thank you ouphe. Typical Canton Suppository (as the paper is affectionately referred to around here) response. My wife's uncle is a veteran Canton cop. If I see him over the holidays, I will ask if he knows anything. Keep in mind: the case was handled by the Sheriff's Department, so this may be another dead end, but I will give it a try. Talking about this has kinda sparked a new interest for me, too. |
