I used to think of that when I was kid. Arnold's has burned down. The insdie of it looks like burned toast and there was Marion trying to sweep the place, LOL.

She also has this sort of "It's not so bad..." aspect, which can be positive and negative. When the chips are down, she won't give in, but she becomes discouraged when the realization of a harsh reality sets in. Therefore, I think Marion was playing on the fact that she was helping in the best way she knew how. Though the problem was much greater than that, it took some convincing on her part, no doubt.
