View Full Version : Former Creed frontman, Scott Stapp
Brad Russ 12-06-2005, 02:22 PM Is anyone here a fan of his?? He was the lead singer of the band Creed, and recently put out a solo album of his own. I know there's alot of Creed haters out there for some odd reason that Iv'e never understood, but I was a huge fan of theirs. I thought Scott's song "Relearn Love" on the "songs inspired by The Passion of The Christ" cd, was pretty good, and I'm looking forward to getting his solo album. Has anyone here heard his new album, and if so, how does it compare to the stuff he did with Creed?
Brian Damage 12-07-2005, 11:53 AM I haven't heard any of his solo stuff, but he has a tremendous voice. I loved Creed's music.
dlemond 12-07-2005, 12:01 PM I heard Howard Stern talking about him the other day and the picture he and the others on the show painted was not pretty.
They said that Stapp is a drunk, and a jerk.
He was on a show called "Casino Cinema" hosted by Howard's girlfriend Beth Ostrosky and Sopranos actor Steve Schirripa. She said that he showed up drunk and acted like an ass and treated her like crap and then proceeded after the show to try and hit on her.
There were more stories about him, mostly about him being a hypocrite with the whole religious thing, being a drunk and cursing. Like Stapp is a train wreck waiting to happen.

Iv'e heard about that stuff too. There was a controversy a few years ago about him apparantely showing up to a concert drunk, and a majority of his fans wanting a refund. I think I saw that on celebrity justice, or one of those shows. Hopefully all those rumors about him aren't true, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were.
ABlairican Pie 12-08-2005, 02:50 AM I heard those stories about Scott Stapp as well, and it's really disturbing. I liked what I heard from the new Creed "spinoff" band Alter Bridge, and they're really good. I'm disappointed in Scott Stapp (especially when they cancelled a re-scheduled show a few years ago at the Tacoma Dome), but I really do like their song "My Own Prison". It's a very honest song.
Dean Winchester 12-08-2005, 03:09 AM why did Creed split up? their last studio album debuted at #1 despite a release on the week of Black Friday, Scott's album barely debuted in the top 20 and Alter Bridge's album barely sold enough to go gold.... do they really hate each other or something? they should've just stayed together considering how huge they were considering to how they've faired apart.
I won't lie... the first time I heard "With Arms Wide Open", I thought to myself "looks like Pearl Jam is going to have a huge comeback with this song" then I remembered that Pearl Jam wouldn't actually release something that'd actually sell in higher numbers than the previous album (they've successfully fallen from 10 million an album to less than 500,000 from their insistance on career suicide) and realized it was a Creed song.

I think a lot of the Creed hate comes from the Pearl Jam-lite sound they had from rock fans who saw them as poseurs. Plus Scott had a pretty big ego when they were popular.
I remember when there was a huge battle between Scott and Fred Durst and I didn't know who to root for. Fred was right about Scott thinking he was Michael Jackson, but at least Scott actually made rock music and belonged in the rock community that he was in, whereas Fred was all about being a rocker and was making garbage like Nookie that was further from rock than the music Britney was making at the time.

Funny how so many people like Scott Stapp felt they had to sound like Pearl Jam. Remember how everyone called Stone Temple Pilots a Pearl Jam clone?

what got on my nerves was the way everyone acted like Limp Bizkit "rocked" when they came out. IMO, the opening three chords of Britney's "Baby One More Time" was closer to a rock riff than anything Limp recorded at the time.
Rap-Rock destroyed the rock industry and rock music is still ways away from beginning the redemption
