loren 12-06-2005, 01:29 AM o i thought u had my two dads for awhile now
you probably saw it on my list
hey lamont
seeing your tony randall reminds of of the love sydney show he had
when you get that one, dont tell me
ok??
Lamont 12-06-2005, 07:53 AM as for LOVE SIDNEY i have the 2 hour pilot movie SIDNEY SHORR and 5 eps, but thats all
loren 12-06-2005, 02:29 PM as for LOVE SIDNEY i have the 2 hour pilot movie SIDNEY SHORR and 5 eps, but thats all
i vote love sydney as the worst sitcom ever
everyone should get these just to watch and see how poor it is
this makes the dukes of hazzard, believable by comparison
Lamont 12-06-2005, 02:49 PM The Funny thing is that it started out so well
Tony Randall was brilliant
and the pilot movie SIDNEY SHORR was him as tvs first openly gay male lead
the pilot movie however, was too serious and melodramatic
so when it become a series, they turned Sidney from Gay, to just "maybe gay?" and they never mentioned it
instead they turned it into one of those awful, SUPER CUTE KID sitcoms of the era, like Punky Brewster and poor Tony had to deal with the mess of a show, it could have been so good, great cast and all
but instead it was awful
poor tony
HOWEVER, the tony randall show is one of my favorites!
KonfusionFTC 12-06-2005, 03:19 PM sheesh makin me wanna see it too. the tony randall show
loren 12-06-2005, 03:25 PM the gay thing is no part of my vote for the show
will and grace is one of the best shows --as a sitcom--ever made in my book
and jack is one of my favorite second fiddles in any show
its just plain very funny
sydney is just plain the opposite--to me
we all have our ideas as to whats funny
example, threes company
i rate it as not funny and just plain poor
i know people who think its the top of the heap and great
they think its the greatest day in history when it released on retail
i think its a waste of good blanks
Lamont 12-06-2005, 05:57 PM Sorry i didnt mean to imply that you were homophobic loren, ha ha
i fully understand about it being an unfunny show, it is a bad one
aimed at reallllly slow kids i guess
also threes company, also not funny, the ONLY thing I ever found amusing about it was The Landlord----- both of them
Norman Fell as Mr Roper was a 1 joke character, but he could really ham up a scene with his factial expressions
Don Knotts as Mr Furley, also a 1 joke character, but how can anyone not love Don Knotts
other than that the show was pretty lame,
I do Like John Ritter---but this other shows, Hooperman and Hearts A Fire were much better-----even 8 Simple Rules was better
bencasey 12-14-2005, 03:45 AM Which Tim Conway show? The sitcom or the variety show?
savageamusement 12-14-2005, 07:52 AM I think some shows are more popular for WHO is in it, then what it is about
for instance I think John Ritter was a great actor really- no matter the part, from three's company to Child's play 4-
But he didn't save three's company. The show wasn't that great, but fans of John Ritter, love it- because it has, John Ritter.
That is the case with a lot of shows for me.
Bob Newhart is another I LOVE him and his acting, but the show 'BOB" wasn't that great. But I watched it anyhow , because of him.

I'm the same way. There are several shows I have because of one or more actors in the show. Regarding "Bob"...may have been a yawner, but isn't that the one that is one of the all time classics for having a great final episode?
JMas493 12-14-2005, 10:02 AM The show with the classic ending was called Newhart. He played a Vermont innkeeper. TV Guide listed it as #1 in its 100 Most Unexpected TV Moments.

Ok, sorry for the confusion. I really love that scene. (Obviously, I never watched the show except for that scene!)
Savage, I'm pretty sure I have some Hollywood Squares eps with Bob Newhart, Plus, I have some of his appearances on the Dean Martin Show IIRC. I don't know if you have these or are even interested. If you don't have them & are interested, let me know & after the holidays are over, I can compile an accurate list.
