View Full Version : Trading post or my personal place to rant and vent?
Lamont 12-04-2005, 11:18 AM Ok, Now is the time when I open myself up to people to jump all over my case.
But, this board has far too much childish bickering... YES, sometimes it can really and truly be amusing, and I would be lying if I were to say that I dont laugh my head off at some of the comments made...
But far too often, its just the same old crud. I mean, come on people, we are all supposed to be adults here and I get tired of hearing certain people, get on the same old, tired soap box again and again and again...
Is there anyone here who is dying for another round of "BIG DVD TRADES ARE BAD" or "so and so sucks because they dont author their own sets" or "so and so is bad because they sell on such and such site"... I mean it gets sooooooo old. Who really cares? If you dont want to do BIG dvd trades, DONT, if u dont like sellers, dont trade with people who sell--- but noone wants to hear it anymore.
We all have feelings about others, and YES there are a few traders on this site that I do not like, and many more that I will never, ever, ever trade with again.... Some are bad traders, some are good traders who I have just had a bad experience with... BUT I do not feel the need to call them Losers, or tell them to Drop Dead, or feel the need to cuss them out in posts, and then apologize 5 minutes later.
If I have a Scammer, I post about it, because we all need to know that, and if someone asks me for a reference on another I give it fairly.
Also, when I do have an issue with someone, I tend to bend over backwards to try to find if there is ANY way at all to resolve it.... whereas others seem to prefer to burn a bridge as fast as possible.... the funny thing is I get about 10 emails a week from someone who says "can i get the new SUCH AND SUCH set from you that Loren or Collinwood or Joker someone else listed as having" and then I tell them "why dont you get it from them?" and the answer 99% of the time is that the other trader WONT TRADE with them anymore b/c of some past issue. Or they contact me b/c they are mad that another trader turned them down b/c they didnt need anything on their list. Dont get mad over that, if u dont have anytthing on your lists, GO GET SOMETHING, i mean stuff is out there, just look at ebay or yahoo or ioffer, the stuff is there, and I mean, come on people, try to work out your issues and not just jump the gun on things... you are ONLY hurting yourself in the long run.
Now, feel free to tell me how stupid and wrong I am and then somehow get the topic back to Slamming one another over the same old issues.
ha ha
Agent 13 12-04-2005, 11:21 AM Lamont,
Well said. I couldn't agree with you more. You're a nice guy. :)
Lamont 12-04-2005, 11:26 AM 1. I was not directing this at any particular traders, BUT I am sure that it might apply more to some than others.... use your common sense
2. I do not mean that problems shouldnt be addressed, b/c they should, JUST NOT THE SAME problems over and over and over by the same people
PS if you are going to insult someone else on the board
Please try to find a funny and amusing way to do it so that I can at least get some laughs out of it
ha ha ha

I'll try to do better next time !
Lamont 12-04-2005, 11:33 AM so that everyone knows
Joker and I have put an end to our past issue
Check the feedback< I did 2 small but agreeable trades with him
and the unpleasantness is behind us
sometimes it is better to not worry about who has wrong or right, but just say "what can I do to put an end to this"
RedWhine56 12-04-2005, 11:34 AM Lamont,
Well said. I couldn't agree with you more. You're a nice guy. :)
What she said!

That's where we disagree. Even if someone says something that falls in line with this statement, those in 'the know' can read between the lines. I don't find sarcasm ever funny when there's a little bit of nastiness in the comment.
debwalsh 12-04-2005, 12:13 PM Well said, Lamont! Your willingness to go the extra mile was a pleasant surprise in our second trade, and I thank you for that.
I also agree with Jen about nastiness, but I do think it's possible to be critical with a bit of flair to soften the blow.
Sent you an e-mail last week I think it was regarding another trade - I'm hoping to have my trade page updated later today with added shows and a more refined (as in, episodes listed instead of "whatever I don't have") want list. The cool thing is that the want list is dwindling, but I always find new things that look interesting. :>
loren 12-04-2005, 12:58 PM its very easy to sit back and say
i would never do this or that
lets be real for just one minute
lets say you, yes whom ever reads this
posts that you have an item for trade
and everytime you do that
the same person makes negative comments for one reason or another right behind your post
yes everytime
what would you do???
please tell me you wouldnt defend yourself
tell me why you should have a dim light cast on your offering-- and not offer up your side of the issue
the batman thing in the last few days
had nothing to do with whom authored the set
i got hate mail about--- i stole a persons work,
hello--this wasnt authored by any member of sitcoms
its just another case of people not reading, but yet having an opinion
garsh it even happened to savage last week
gobs of people had an opinion and didnt have fact one
and didnt take a minute to find out either
then look at the posts and read the batman area
look at the things i said
he is an honest trader who has the gumption to go out and find things
i would rather have his 29 disc set than the 22 disc set
i saw a screen shot on ioffer and his set was great
yes those are all very nasty things to say arent they???
lamont
how many times have you posted, please dont offer me a set of the smurfs
or tell me --you will probably get 100 emails about the smufs
the reason that so many people cant get things from me--or many others
is becasue they havent put forth the effort to get some viable trade items to warrant a trade
you said this how many times????
my list is linked on every post, its on every email i send, its very easy to find
but yet every week i get at least 10 people that offer me things in trade that are on my list in plain view
they didnt even take the effort to look
to be a viable trader, one must put forth some efforts
secondly, ill be the first to state that some people dont want to deal with sellers--and i respect that choice
but then , they deal with another seller becasue that seller uses fake names and the trader doesnt know it
i have said this many times
i would love to post a list of sellers that frequent this board
it would be very interesting
i keep these records
i also keep printed copies of emails that others send me, that offer things like 30 minute shows of my three sons for $100 an episode
and lamont you can verify these things
you had an offer of $500 for the 5 you asked about
sellers are commonly raked over grids here, and in most cases the ones doing the most shouting, are also sellers
let it be known here and now, I HAVE NEVER FORCED ANYONE TO DEAL WITH ME
its all personal choice either way
next
i am a relative new commer to this particular site
at least 98 % of the trades i make, are from relationships that i have formed from previous to entering this sitcoms area
i would have a hard time thinking of 10 people that i met from this site, that i have traded with
yet i see and hear comments from all sorts of people that i have NEVER dealt with
mostly due to the idea that i cant swap with them simply due to the fact i dont do movies, retails, or cartoons, or they just plain dont have anything that i dont now have or would want
its not a contest to get the most items
i cut well over 1200 disc in the last few months that were retails
i cut at least another 500 that were potential problems and not worth the effort
i got a nasty email from a sitcoms member last week, about a set that i never even owned, much less sent to them and was messed up
if you have first hand experience thats a whole lot different than the rumors that flip around
close
every one in america is entitled to an opinion
but
its your responsibility to get informed before you make that opinion
savageamusement 12-04-2005, 01:24 PM I agree with Loren.
I agree with Lamont.
I even agree with Joker.
I think sometimes, when we post- the impersonalness of posting, rather than speaking takes its toll.
I think sometimes, some users find they add a little more pnch to their statements or get a little nastier -because witout human contact- facial expressions, body language-
1-We can't see whom we are saying things to-or how they react.
and
2-We have no connection. Without personal connection it is easier to be nastier.
Period.
How many guys (and I am not going to go into sterotypes here)
But how many guys have had arguments with their g'f or wives nad if she starts crying - you stop what your saying, not because you are right or worng anymore, but because the expression of pain stops you.
Words are words- and you can use them a lot stronger when you don't see the consequence.
Swearing, CAPS TYPING, and other forms of expression- we use them to make a point, and sometimes drive that point home too hard, because its only being typed.
I am not going to take sides here, and this might offend a few users but, calling a spade a spade.
Loren, your very witty, and very intelligent. But sometimes you can be abrasive.
(shrug) Life goes on -
But I think sometimes you like to have the last word.
Does this make you a bad trader, nope.
Does this make you an evil evil person? Nope.
But what it does do, is when people have an issue with you, depending on their ability of self control and sometimes age factors into this- if THEY like to have the last word- you have yourself a battle of wills.
You have a strong personality, so people bad or good are going to be drawn to it- Simple as that.
Joker-
Your also one who likes to have the last word.
Again, doesn't make you a bad person- but it does make you come across as annoying sometimes.Headstrong, and dare I say stubborn.
And you left sitcoms earlier in the kinda banned/kinda left state because you simply said you didn't want to be near Loren.
On this entire board, your issues with Loren, were so extreme you wanted to leave.
Granted you changed your mind- Granted your handling things better- but, it was the same day you were reinstated and argument took its place.
I don't think Loren is off based feeling you are personally taking efforts to diminish people's opinions of him.
I think you are upset, and you want people to share your opinion. And the simple fact is, others may not SHARE your opinion.
Most of the board knows you don't like loren.
And most of the board knows you BOTH take shots at each other.
(shrug)
SO be it. Not one rule of sitcoms says you have to like other users.
I said this before, I say it again, it's a big board boys, find your own space in it.
And if you don't like someone-sharing that thought once or twice is an opinion, more than that- its libel/slander.
Don't try to harm ones reputation because you don't like one user.
And is this really over a show at this point?
Is Batman really this sacred?
Neither one of you produced the show.
There are no "rights" being stepped on.
Its a show many like, multiple sets are made- and available. Longer shorter/commericals no comericals/cut uncut its a matter of prefrence.
This show is getting tugged on like a personal bone.
In the last week I have had 2 people come to me, and ask which one of you are the bad trader, which one is the thief.
I don't know who pointed which finger, but it's been done so many times BOTH of you look bad.
If the show was made into a retail set, and everyone on the board got it- and had no need for Batman anymore- what would you two argue over?
Loren, I am sorry that this has gone so far. I am sorry that you have had to defend yourself over this.
And I am sorry, that this board- which is supposed to be fun at times can be so controversial.
And Joker-I am sorry your upset and you feel so angry over this that you spend so much time posting/arguing over it.
There are so many other things going on-that you have the potential to use this frustration towards.
The amazing thing, you are BOTH good traders.
My opinion is put your frustration and effort from this, into your sets-
And come up with a new show, a new trade, a new set-
Because it just isn't worth the anger, and name calling. The frustration and anguish.
And you are going to find yourself frustrated again--believe it or not. A set you just made that is released retail.
Or a set you made, and you find out another trader has it.
Selling it on Ioffer and someone sells it cheaper on Ebay. There are no guarauntees in trading. Make your sets, make your trades- do the best job you can, and ENJOY what you have made or traded.
Its time for families, and holidays, and resolutions. Take time for that.
Because really, while all this energy is being expended into a tv show and who has the better set- who had it first, who has the rights to it- I am getting dressed to go drop off our collection for the childrens cancer ward in Hammond.
Can we put some perspective onto this-
Instead of fighting each others differences, embrace the fact you BOTH made a great set.
Just think if the two of you put your heads together, what you could share with the board.
RedWhine56 12-04-2005, 01:25 PM To ME, there's definitely something about people who take the high road & know how to let issues go & move on. Sticks 'n stones & all that jazz. Sometimes saying NOTHING is a very powerful statement. Although I've only been a member here a short time, I've learned alot about the personalities of some people here from the way they conduct themselves on the message boards. And for me, there are people I will never trade with, due to their unbecoming conduct. It's also affirmed my initial impressions of others who seem to be people I would enjoy referring to as a friend & would enjoy knowing in person.
At the risk of sounding like a Lamont groupie, everytime there's a scuffle, Lamont's in there trying to get everyone to just drop it & move on & he's rarely ever successful, unfortunately.
It's the holiday season...let's move on, PLEASE.
y2k3Joker 12-04-2005, 02:15 PM And is this really over a show at this point?
Is Batman really this sacred?
No, it's not. Not at all!!!
It's not even the issue for the feud - it's in the forefront now but it goes deeper than that.
Things that were said in the summer in personal e-mails before YOU necomers came aboard.
But of course since I'm the immature, dumb, annoying stubborn one, I can't possibly articulate my point of view.
Thank You for making that clear
savageamusement 12-04-2005, 02:39 PM Yes things were said last summer.
And you took a break and this thread is just like the one before you left.
All I was saying is that a show is a show. Move on, all your doing is ostricizing both of you from trades- hurting both reputations.
Joker, I am not pointing fingers- and being stubborn isn't always a bad trait.
But when someone comes to me and says "Hey I hear this Joker stole a set from Loren, is that true- its clear reputations are being harmed.
And since its yours as well, I thought maybe some insight would be appreciated.
If you want to destory yourself by all means- I won't pull a chistle out of your hand.
I was merely saying if you two can put things aside and either agree to disagree, or even try working things out, or working together, you might have something to show for all this frustration.
And of course the new comers aren't going to understand- your picking this battle up form 6 monts ago.
loren 12-04-2005, 02:55 PM please
i have stated several times that joker is a top shelf trader
i dont pass out lame referals
its true
neither joker or i stole trade items from each other
its nothing to do with that
i have made about 5 trades with him, and please check the posts and see i spoke highly of him in the reference area
and even yesterday on two occasions, i posted he was a good trader and honest
do not even go there with hes not an honest trader
please before you jump to an opinion, do some reading
our --so called-- blood fued is based on personal differences that involved things far outside of this sit coms board
and seriously none of anyone elses concern
another fact
the batman sets are two totaly different sets as well
his is 29 discs and a masterpiece of menu artwork
mine is 22 discs and very nice
both are reported to be uncut
mine is from tv land canada, i cant comment on where his is from, i havent seen it
two completely seperate sets

y2k3Joker 12-04-2005, 03:16 PM Yes, I will second that about Loren.
He does deliver the goods and is honest trader as well.
I have NEVER EVER said anything negative about him with his dealings with other traders on here or any other board.
Like he said, this problem is personal and won't be brought up on here by me again.
Joker
Lamont 12-04-2005, 04:55 PM Loren, I have always, always, always been thrilled with the stuff he sends, he is in my opinion, the single fastest and most accurate trader on this or any site,
and YES i 100 % fully support his or any members right to defend themselves if they are maligned or if someone posts something unpleasant about them,
i was NOT trying to imply otherwise
and to clarify, YES i do get emails from people who want to trade with me and loren turned them down, and YES I far too often trade for something I dont really need, and I am going to put a stop to that, BECAUSE I cant continue to handle all the trades I want to do, if i keep taking in stuff that i dont really want
so dont be offended if i turn you down next time you make me an offer
and secondly, when i said that some people email me and tell me that another trader wont deal with them, it is NOT just loren, or any particular trader, and to be honest it is almost always their fault, NOT the other traders, I mean for example, ONE PARTICULAR person emailed me this week and said
"I want this_________________ set that __________________ has new in, BUT they wont deal with me" and when I asked for details, it turns out that the person who contacted me is to blame 100%, they traded this ___________ trader a total junk set and got into a nasty tirade and cussed them out, so no wonder noone wants to deal with them" my point was that people need to not burn bridges so fast, b/c in the end it only hurts themselves!!!
and I wanted to just clarify that Loren is the measuring stick by which many other traders are judged, b/c he is accurate and lightning fast
also, Joker has some good stuff, and I am glad that he and I put old issues to rest as well.
TRUST ME, these are 2 good traders here, and despite whatever personal issues they have, you cannot go wrong dealing with either one!
DAJIZZARIZZA 12-04-2005, 05:03 PM YOU ARE SUCH A WUSSY,...LOL ...JUST KIDDING LAMONT...YOU ARE HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE NICES PEOPLE ON ANY TRADING SITE .
THUMBS UP.
YEAH MY 200TH POST !!!!
Lamont 12-04-2005, 05:51 PM Trust me Daj,
Lamont can be just a big of an *$$@&*@ as the next guy,
Just ask Grady and Aunt Esther!!!!
But, I have learned that when someone starts calling someone else Profane names, or Loser or attacking them in a nasty way, It ONLY makes them look immature and just plain stupid. If you are in the right, explain yourself in an intelligent manner and even if people dont like you, they will at least respect you for handling it the right way
and I have also learned that just because I dont like someone does NOT make them a bad trader, I have a couple guys that I just do not like at all, BUT they are still good traders, I just dont choose to deal with them.....
anyhow, I think this horse has been dead all day long so I hope this is the final word......
so? anyone have any new stuff in????
savageamusement 12-04-2005, 08:36 PM I do.
I made a 6 dvd set of all the rare Christmas cartoons I had.
I even posted a contest on savagetraders to win 2 of them- no strings attatched.
So far staypuft is winning.
And I notice you haven't tried!
Lamont 12-04-2005, 08:41 PM ive found that i have better luck if i enter at the last possible moment!
sugar ray 12-05-2005, 12:22 AM GOOD points made by all in this thread.
only TWO kinds of people that drive me NUTS in this crazy game. i don't mind the bitchers too much, as half the time they fade away as not many traders want much to do with them.
the ones i have issues with are
1.the scammers and thieves, i think that goes without saying??
2.traders that get all salty when you simply say "NO" im "NOT" interested in trading what you have. my want list is very small. i don't usualy make a trade unless its something i personaly want. so when someone contacts me about something i have on my list and i politely reply that im only looking for WANTS, some tend to be cranky. NOT all....just some.
Loren made an excellent point. a person has a right to say NO to trade offers. that's the biggest issue with me.
