Fremantle owns all of the Grundy shows. There has been wondering as to why one or both of these shows don't air. The reason is because the high cost of money is a factor, at least for GSN. The show I used to watch had Jim Perry on it. That's the version I mean. Both the 1983-1989 NBC SoTC and the 1984-90 and 1993 versions of Scrabble are in an Australian vault. I believe it's been that way since Fremantle Media took ownership of the Grundy shows. They own the rights to the Goodson-Todman, Carruthers, and Reg Grundy shows. Bob's TV Treasures 12-07-2005, 04:29 AM I have one very nice episode of the Jim Perry version with original commercials. I'm interesting in obtaining the ORIGINAL version of the show with both Jack Kelly, and later Joe Garagiola as host. Jack Kelly was dreadful as a game show host - VERY out of place. He had this habit of calling upon each woman on the show with the line, "hey, pretty lady." It got REALLY old after a while. And the original version had a better bonus round. If the contestant won a few days, their total points on the tote board from the multiple days could buy them cars, boats, etc. snl 70s show fan 12-07-2005, 02:48 PM my sisters ex boyfriend was a conteasant on sotc in 1983 or 84 but the only thing he won was a necklece but it was nice to see what had become of my sisters old boyfriend after 10 years friendsfan77 12-09-2005, 11:44 AM I'm interesting in obtaining the ORIGINAL version of the show with both Jack Kelly, and later Joe Garagiola as host. The UCLA Archive has about 9 episodes from that era. That's pretty much all that's left that we know of. |
