View Full Version : Smallville's First Casualty
Buffyboy323 12-04-2005, 05:12 AM Next month, for "SMALLVILLE'S" 100th episode, a main cast member will die. We know it's not Clarke, Lex, The Kent's, or Lois. So who do you think it's gonna be??? OMG please don't tell me Cloe. Face it, she's been the real superhero this year. She finds all the cases, and clarke solves them. They're a great team. And I love that she knows his "secret".....As much as I want Lana to die, I know it's going to be Lional......So who do you think Dies???
tv star collector 12-04-2005, 09:32 AM Why Lana??
I wouldn't like to see Chloe go either. I think it's going to be one of his parents.
Mr. Television 12-04-2005, 12:15 PM I wouldn't want it to be Chloe either. My least favorite character right now is Lana but I doubt it will be here. I know it won't be Lois because we all know her future. If I would guess it might be Jonathon because in most of the Superman incarnations he dies.
If I would guess it might be Jonathon because in most of the Superman incarnations he dies.
That is true. It would be a shame to get rid of him too, because John Shneider has done a great job on the show.
spunkygirl 12-04-2005, 05:20 PM IF anyone dies it will most likely be Jonathan because he's not in the upcoming Superman Returns so that would coincide with that, he'll probably have a heart attack.
I think Chloe is safe this season, but she will either die or go insane by series end :(
Buffyboy323 12-04-2005, 05:21 PM I want it to be Lana because she's a cry baby, and I can't stand her, but I know she has a big Fan Base, so she'll be around for a while. I think it's gonna be Lional Luthor.
Céline 12-04-2005, 11:23 PM I'm sure Chloé is safe, she has bigger role this season, her death would be HUGH mistake:mad:
Lionel(interesting character) is needed to drive Lex crazy:crazy:
I would mind if Lana dies(she always gets on my nerves) but,it won't happen:p
It's going to be Johnathan:rip:
Actually, since Lana has been written out of a few episodes this season, maybe the powers that be at "Smallville" are trying to see if the viewers notice (or care about) her absence?
Maybe she'll be the one to go...
spunkygirl 12-05-2005, 11:05 AM I don't think it will be Lana, Lana wasn't in a few episodes because Kristin Kreuk was away filming her upcoming movie "Partition". The only characters that are safe are:
Clark, Lois, Lex(the Big 3 of Superman Mythology), Lana, Martha and possibly Pete. Since Jonathan is alive in some comics and dead in some it could go either way.
They said it would be the life of someone Clark loved, and he doesn't love Lionel, they said there would be 2 deaths in the 100th episode, but not that two people would die, I think the other death will be Clark and Lex's friendship permanently.
Plus this could also all be a hoax that no one will die, it's really hard to tell ;)
barb1686 12-06-2005, 09:05 PM It won't be Lionel, as Sasette said. He's not close to him. It won't be Lana either...as in other Superman projects she appears later on (I guess that could change as they did bring Lois in differently as well). Could be Chloe, although that would be dumb...I say that because she knows his secret and they'd find a way for her to forget, and she obviously doesn't move her way up in the Daily Planet otherwise I think later on in life Clark would pay more attention to her. If it's not her then I guess she just chose another paper or she quit with journalism lol Pete's a good friend, he may not be in Smallville, but he's a good friend. Isn't he suppose to make an appearance sometime soon? It could very well be Jonathan. Afterall, he does die within other Superman projects. That could help Clark grow up and learn more about who he is (just like the other Superman), although Jonathan is very important to the show IMO.
I don't want Chloe to leave, but I don't want Jonathan too either. Smallville is more teen based so I say it'll be Jonathan. It makes sense too. However, it is tv, so it could be someone completely out there that's not even living in Smallville. Who knows. With my bet, I'd say it's about a 70% chance of being Jonathan. But it's tv and they probably want you thinking, and it's almost never what you think it's going to be.
Rachel3118 12-24-2005, 02:51 AM It seems like it will either be Chloe or Mr. Kent. I really don't want Chloe to die.

The smart money would be on Jonathon Kent, because in 99% of the Superman mythos, he does die before Clark dons the cape...
But I think Chloe might be the one to go. Why? Because this season Erica Durance (Lois) is mentioned before Allison Mack (Chole) in the opening credits. Maybe it's the producer's way of slowly trying to phase the Chloe character out of the picture and put Lois more in the forefront.
barb1686 12-25-2005, 12:28 PM I've thought more about this and I think it might be both Jonathan and Lionel. Lex and Clark seem to go through the same things at the same time...and this could be the one thing to throw their relationship away for good and make them the enemies we all know.
spunkygirl 12-25-2005, 01:43 PM I have a feeling it's going to end up being Jonathan, which will be a major disappointment cause everyone's expecting him to die ohno: Alot of people are saying it will either be Chloe or Lana, which both seem plausible.
Rachel3118 01-01-2006, 11:03 PM In the episode where Clark found out someone would have to die it kind of seemed like it would be Chloe. Just the way he was talking about it around her and worrying about how someone would die when she was around. It seems like she's getting a bigger role this season with her knowing Clarks secret and helping him out. It seems like things would go bad right after they become close and she learns his secret.
Wings#1ShowPeriod 01-10-2006, 11:17 PM I think its going to be Jonathan, just because he seems like the obivious choice. Jor-el did say to Clark its going to be his darkest hour.. and losing a parent would be to that effect. If not Jonathan, I think it could be Lana. Because Clark has loved her basically a long time.. and not having Lana in his life would be a big impact on Clark. Who knows, can't wait for the 100th episode.

Nope. Smallville has nothing to do with Superman Returns.
They are completely separate entities, just like Smallville is not a prequel to Lois & Clark or tied into any of the previous Superman series.
Besides, Superman Returns is tied into with the continuity of the Christopher Reeve movies. It takes place five years after Superman II with Kal-El/Clark returning to earth after a self-imposed exile. So, Jonathan Kent is already dead.

Thank you. That answers one of my questions I had in the Superman Returns thread! :D
But I think she meant that it would just fit well...not that they're going by Smallville in Superman Returns or vice versa, but just because it would go together nicely. Am I right Sasette?
barb1686 01-13-2006, 08:49 PM Hmm...who's to say anyone dies? Jor-El just said he would lose someone close to him, correct? And who's to say there's a body in that casket? Shows like to do mind games and I think this is a biggie....haha I don't know anymore, I do too much thinking about this and I have a bunch of different theories. Guess we'll see on the 26th.

It was a good guess. But Smallville has always gone against the grain of traditional Superman continuity. Jonathan Kent being alive while Clark/Superman discovers and tries out his new powers is not new - it's been that way in the comics for 20 years since DC rebooted Superman in 1986 and he was also alive (albeit a bit older) in the Lois & Clark show.
They have also gone against traditional Superman continuity by having Clark defy Jor-El, who seems to be kind of evil and introducing Lois so early in the saga. Clark and Lois don't meet usually until Clark takes his job at the Daily Planet.
Clark could conceivably die this season and it would have no effect on Superman Returns. Look at it this way - we get two different Superman stories this way. Not too shabby.

Couldn't have agreed more. ;) I absolutely love Smallville, but it's just not your ordinary Superman storyline. I guess that's what keeps it interesting.

Hell, they could kill Lois for all we know.
And besides, even if someone dies...this is a sci-fi/fantasy show and we all know that characters can be revived and "undead.";)

That's true. I asked my roommate who they might kill off and he suggested Lana, sighting that since she was posessed by that evil witch a few times last season, she could probably come back from the dead as a bad guy.

Lana is a lot more fun when she's bad.:D
She's cute, but I can only look at that doe-eyed expression so many friggin' times!!

Lana hasn't been around that much lately; maybe they're trying to slowly phase her out.
Also, since Clark finally has the girl of his dreams and is happy and content, in the TV world that usually means he's gonna get screwed.
;)

Well, at least he got to do her once.:D
In pre-1990s movies and Tv shows, Clark never got laid.
Actually, it wouldn't bother me if Lana got killed. I think Clark and Chloe would make a much more interesting couple, as she knows his secret and there's kind of that undercurrent of sexual tension. I think Chloe has it for Clark, but she keeps it beneath the surface.
In the Christmas episode (the one I call "It's A Wonderful Lex"), it was cool to see the alternate reality where Clark and Chloe were a couple. They looked good together.
Less than two weeks until someone bites the dust!!
spunkygirl 01-15-2006, 11:58 AM Nope. Smallville has nothing to do with Superman Returns.

What I meant was that the movie and tv show are trying not to step on each others toes, but at the same time they're trying to line up things so that they don't have any kind of conflict. So Jonathan dying on SV, would coincide with the new movie. That's another reason why they won't allow a Clark and Lois romance on the show is because of the new movie.
Actually the first movies are vague history, nothing more. It doesn't take place 5 years after the first, that's never been said. Entertainment Weekly said that but it's been said that's not the case. All it is is Superman was gone for 5 years ;)
Scroll down:
Anyways the death is Lana, something happens where time gets reversed, and Lana gets brought back so Jonathan loses his life because of it. That's all but been confirmed.
Personally as much as I dislike Lana I think it should be Chloe, cause her number's about up. I mean she can only go on so long being Clark's sidekick. Superman doesn't have a sidekick, he's not Batman.
