View Full Version : Opening up a package of biscuits

Reading about Pleasant Tomorrow's fear of people cracking nuts, made me think of how much I use to hate opening up those Pillsbury biscuit packages when I was a kid. I'm talking about the kind where you'd have to pull on the wrapper until it would pop. My whole family use to argue over who would open the biscuits. I would usually end up being the one to volunteer, but I would always close my eyes, and turn my head. I hated it almost as much as when someone would pop a balloon in my face. Is there anyone else here who hated to open the biscuit package??

On the contrary, I like opening those things. I find the pop exciting! Hey, you gotta find pleasure in the little things.....

Yes, I used to hate that. As a kid I never liked being startled by anything. I hated jack in the boxes for that same reason.

I can relate, I was startled by almost everything as a kid, including jack in the boxes. I actually have a picture of myself crying, after my mom had popped a Jack in the box. LOL!! If I ever get my new scanner working, I'll post the picture. It's pretty funny.

Hasn't Pillsbury improved their technology so that they no longer have to package thier biscuits in a high pressure container that could explode any minute?

I thought I was the only person who hated that. It freaks me out big time to open a can of biscuits and have it pop like that

 ha ha ha ha!! This cracks me up, because I actually bought some biscuits a couple months ago, for the first time in years. One of my roomates and I were actually arguing over who would open it. I knew that it would only be a little thud, but still, my heart was beating like a million miles an hour, and I just couldn't look. After I got done opening it we started laughing are asses off at the fact that we just argued over who would open up a package of biscuits. It's funny how little things can bring out such big fear in people.

My grandma laughs at me cause it freaks me out to open it  I always wrap a towel around it when I get to the part where it's going to pop and that seems to help somewhat ;)

Im not 'afraid' of it, but I hate opening up a yogurt container thats been out for a few minutes because then a bunch of yogurt pops out at you! I put a paper towel over it and turn my head .

This was a damn good thread...i know there are other crazy things we have fear of or have a weird feeling abt. I laughed reading your post. I can see the pic in my head of two of you saying "No you open it" "No, you do it" LOL

LMAO, I love this thread so much!!

To this day, I still peel back the corner thing very slowly, looking as cautious as ever as if I'm handling a deadly bomb that could detonate at any minute.

Of course, everytime, the same results: the thing pops, I jump and yell "AH!" in surprise. You'd think the surprise would've worn off by now, but nope. It's like one of those things that although you know it's coming, it STILL seems to take you off guard.

oh my god, those things scared the ****ing **** out of me. i had one as a toddler and it borderline caused me a heart attack everytime it jumped out at me, but the weird thing is i insisted to keep playing with it. i remember when my mom took it away once so i'd stop freaking myself out with it and i was pissed.

LOL!! After reading all these posts, it made me kind of hungry for some biscuits tonight, so I made biscuits and gravy for dinner. I'm not kidding, I really did, and damn it was good!! I can just see the news tomorrow morning: Biscuit sales double over the weekend, because of a bunch of people at a sitcoms message board!!

Damn, that is funny Little Mel...  I am craving biscuits ever since this thread started. LOL
Yep, i see the crowd heading to the store...there they are!!!
I don't want to see this thread end, I want to read more funny weird stuff abt food and such. This biscuit thing is something we can identify with and yet it's such a mundane thing at the same time.

I hate when people make too much noise opening a bag of chips. That celophane wrinkling noise annoys me to no end.
