View Full Version : Woman thrown from cliff - Sherry Hart themaninblack 12-01-2005, 04:32 PM i saw this episode years ago but cannot remember the name of the victim or circumstances... crystaldawn 12-01-2005, 06:10 PM Well the story you're referring to may be Sherry Hart. I believe she was out with a couple of male acquaintances. I'm not sure if she was sexually assaulted or not but I remember the very disturbing scene where the two men pushed her off the cliff. Her daughter was interviewed on the segment and was very small when her mother was murdered and had grown up and was determined to find her killer. The suspect in the case was named Richard Bear. I'm not sure if he's been apprehended. Kane 12-01-2005, 11:17 PM The suspect in the case was named Richard Bear. I'm not sure if he's been apprehended. He has been profiled on America's Most Wanted numerous times, both before and after being profiled on UM. Richard Lynn Bare was last featured on AMW in 2004, and it goes without saying that AMW hasn't given up looking for him. Check out his AMW profile: http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=24635 Zero 12-02-2005, 12:23 AM If I remember correctly, both men were driving around with her, but only one man pushed her off the cliff. I remember the other guy didn't understand why he killed her. If I'm not wrong, he confessed to police but still got a very long prison sentence. Any body remember what exactly he was convicted of? The other guy, the one that DID push her got away. :cuss: CODIS 12-02-2005, 07:48 AM I can't be 100% sure if this is the same case but it sounds awfully similar to the so called "Speed Freak Killers" case in Ca. The 2 (Wesley Shermatine and Leonard Hertzog) were connected to the disappearance of one Cynthia Vanderheiden. This is the link to the case file. Not sure if it is the case you speak of. http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/v/vanderheiden_cynthia.html jeeps 12-02-2005, 08:39 AM And just to add to the confusion... Wasn't there another case where a young girl was thrown off a cliff by woman (perhaps a couple) who lured her there on the pretext of a vacation. They pushed her for the insurance money. jeeps Kane 12-02-2005, 10:07 AM And just to add to the confusion... Wasn't there another case where a young girl was thrown off a cliff by woman (perhaps a couple) who lured her there on the pretext of a vacation. They pushed her for the insurance money. jeeps That was never an UM case. But it was the focus of a Forensic Files episode entitled "Financial Downfall". I don't recall the name of the victim or the couple who participated in her death, but I know that the man who pushed the woman to her death died before he could stand trial. crystaldawn 12-02-2005, 10:18 AM This story was also made into a movie that I've seen on Lifetime. "Winnie" from The Wonder Years played the victim. jeeps 12-02-2005, 12:11 PM Kane and crystaldawn, You guys are good!! jeeps Zero 12-03-2005, 02:17 AM There was another story similar to this one. A woman was thrown down a cliff by a man. They used a psychic who was a witch to help them out. According to her, the man was someone she knew and trusted. I don't know which case is worse. :( Tap Dancer 10-23-2008, 06:18 PM And just to add to the confusion... I recommend it. UM Zealot 10-24-2008, 05:19 PM If I remember correctly, both men were driving around with her, but only one man pushed her off the cliff. At least, that's how the re-enactment went, but it could have been self-serving. Tendervittles 11-20-2008, 03:42 PM As I recall, Sherry had dated Richard's older brother? UM implied with that episode that family members were hiding Richard. You'd think they would have caught the guy by now - he has to be functioning in some way, shape or form out in society. Even his photo update enhancement looked skuzzy. DP1 11-21-2008, 12:40 AM I can't believe this guy has evaded justice for 26 years... mphs95 11-21-2008, 08:41 AM I can't believe this guy has evaded justice for 26 years... Either some delusional family members are hiding him out or he's pushing daisies somewhere. |
