considering the show should be pushing into the 1980's soon, will they change the name of the show? They shouldn't cancel it just for that reason.

The licence plate says "DEC 1977" so they are stuck in 1977 forever I guess.
Notice they havent mentioned the death of Elvis or Freddie Prinze? (that wouldnt be very comical afterall..).

I think they should say something about the events in that year. Like Three's Company debuting......

The lisance plates now say 1978. It stared '78 a few episodes ago. Also Eric is finally 18 in season four that will air this fall. Topher Grace said they WILL go onto 1980 before the show ends in Entertainment Weekly.

Actually, I heard a few months back that Fox is planning on That 80's Show for a mid season replacement around March or April, new people, new decade. I can't wait.

If you remember in the first season, the date of each episode was shown in the beginning along with where everyone is. They stopped going forward in real time when the show became a hit and they realized that they would be into the 80's within a few seasons.
