The name of the episode was "I'm Torn Here." In the episode, Billie wants to remain friends with Gary, and she begins dating a man who turns out to be Gary's former school rival.

Is that the episode that's final scene had Gary walk out the kitchen door of the Bunker home, just as Billie tells him she loves him, then she starts to cry at the table, and Archie walks in,and shows a tender side of him by hugging her?

To tell you the truth, I never saw the final episode. I just know about the plot from various sites (including episode guides) related to the show.

I think you meant to say "you appear to be on medication." Okay, it wasn't a great joke (30 minutes) but the finale of APB wasn't designed to be a series finale. The show was abruptly cancelled and unlike M*A*S*H that went out with a blaze of glory that year, Carroll O' Connor wasn't given the opportunity to do a closing episode. The series' last had already been shot.

I didnt watch it just scanned thru it fast, but noticed it was about Archie's neice Billie and the lawyer. CBS moved ABP to Mondays during the spring of 1983 if I remember right. I have some blocks of shows from back then like ABP/Mash/Cagney & Lacey, etc.

Solomon I have spent alot of this summer archiving stuff, so I have a much better grasp of what I have in my collection except for the boxes of beta tapes I have yet to go thru that I have bought from auctions and other places of course.

The finale aired on TV Land a few years back but like the last episodes of Jeffersons, All in the Family and Gloria in the block they aired, there was nothing special about them. You can easily find a synopsis online.

No, that was the 2nd to last episode.

I'm Torn Here was a nice episode just unsatisfying. It just wasn't finale caliber. So many loose ends left unresolved, they needed a real goodbye episode. It's beyond the pale CBS didn't give a great series/ iconic character a proper farewell.
