I liked BATTLE OF THE PLANETS. Syndicated in 1978, this Tasunko Production concerned the exploits of "G-Force," a group of young defenders of Earth. There were 78 episodes set in the year 2020. This was the first major Japenese import since SPEED RACER and was first telecast in Japan from 1972 to 1974 under the title GATCHAMAN. The show was retitled and dubbed by producer Sandy Frank who acquired the property for syndication in the U.S. The series was later re-packaged by Ted Turner's Turner Entertainment Systems as G-FORCE and broadcast briefly on WTBS. Alan Young (the star of MISTER ED and the voice of Scrooge McDuck on DUCK TALES) supplied the voice of the robot 7-Zark-7 for the U.S. version. Other voices included Keye Luke (Zoltar), Casey Kasem (Mark Venture), Janet Waldo (Princess), Ronnie Schell (JASON), and Alan Dinehart (Dr. Anderson, Tiny).
