Was marijuana usage really that prevalent during the 1970's ? Where we live, no one smokes or sells "pot". I wish they did ! I'm not a druggie, but it suuuuuuuure looks like it makes them feel gooooooood. :O)

There's a saying that goes..

"If you can remember the 70's, you weren't doing it right."

By the way, I wouldn't be so quick to say that no one smokes pot where you live. You probably just don't *know* the people who do.

Absolutely! In fact, according to numerous statistics, reports, etc, the highest period of time for drug usage (especially pot) was the late 1970s. Alot of people think it was the '60s. In 1967, only 5% of the population even tried pot. By 1977, it reached epidemic proportions! From 1980 to 1992 the drug usage went down drastically by 67% (so much for the so-called excessive '80s...yawn).

I hate to sound so scientific, but I figured you'd like to see data that actually supports the reputation the '70s has when it comes to drugs.

By the way, I'm 41 and lived through that period, and it was definitely loaded with drug usage.

I'm with you MowerDan. I am also 41 and pot was EVERYWHERE in the 70s. If you did not get high you didn't readily admit it. When people would ask you "Are you Cool?"
That means "Do you smoke weed?"

Tuxedo, why does this name sound familiar? R U who I think you are? If so how's the wifey poo? Hope all is well and it's great to see you over here. It's nice to graduate from Daycare ha ha h a.

And to stay O/T, yes pot was very prevalent in the 70's. It was everywhere when I was growing up. And such a deal too. 10 bucks (remember when a lid was not worn on your head) went along way.
