By doing this it makes more money for the network and less money for the producers and actors. This in turn, hurts a show's chances for long term success. David Duchovny sued Fox because it had did this with "The X-Files".

Isn't like every show on FX a FOX show? Damn, Rupie is cheap!

Actually, those are Fox shows. 20th Century Fox produces them.

Yep, more greed from the networks. I believe Alan Alda has or had a similar suit going with FOX over the reruns of M*A*S*H being sold to FX, well under market value.

The networks also would prefer to produce programs by thier own studios, (in house is what they call it) so they don't have to pay tons of $$$ to production companies like Paramount or Warner Brothers for rights to shows.

This is purely my opinion but...
Next time you see a margianlly successful show get cancelled, check to see if it's produced "in house" by the network, or sold to the network from another production company. The networks would rather cut loose a show they don't own outright if it's not doing well. They give thier own "in house" shows a chance to grow.

Yep. Thats the reason nypd blue wasnt on very long on FX. They sold FX the rights for something like 250,000 per ep or something, and it was supposed to go for way more.

PS, if anybody wants some NYPD Blue eps for the bargain basement price of just $100,000 per ep, I can go ahead and start taping it for you. <G>

Just playing ^_^

100 grand per episode?

For that price, Dennis Franz better deliver the tapes personally!
