The one used in the first 2 seasons, or the one used in seasons 3 through 6?

I liked the second one better. Nell had a great voice and it showcased her vocals wonderfully.

Anyone agree?

I liked the more 80's r&b-ish second theme to the original

Yeah seasons 3-6 were the best theme!

I prefer the first one (1981-83). I was never a big fan of the 80's synth-pop sound.

The 2nd season had the best theme song

I prefer the second version :)

BTW, I'd like to let everyone know that GAB is now available for pre-order at Amazon.com. However, they have it spelled as "Gimmie a Break."

The second one- It- like the show itself- seems more relaxed, more comfortable. I LOVE THE SECOND ONE- its got this wonderful sound to it- and Nell is superb in it- that beginning is SHHEEERRR 80'S and i luuuuuved the 80's

yep, the second theme song is the one I always associate with the series, "gimme a break, now I know what it takes...". The first theme is decent too but the second one sounds like something The Pointer Sisters would've done.

Both themes were great. Nell had such a wonderful voice. Man do I miss her.

I definitely like the second one better, although it is funny in the first song when Nell says "I finally got a piece of the caaake!"

Theres no such lyrics in the theme song
The lyric went
"What happened to my piece of the cake"
And the lyrics from the 1st season and 2nd season are the same

The second one grew on me but I like the first one better. It was more upbeat and fun. The second one, although good, was the opposite.

the original is catchy as hell, I just like version two better because that's the way I grew up with the show remembering the theme song as.

The original song was the best. It was a "jumptheshark" moment for me whe they changed it.

I hear the first version at hockey games all the time. They play it when the home team gets a penalty. I like them both about equally.

I like the first one as well. It's bouncy, fun, and just much more distinctive as a theme. The second theme, while just as good, just doesn't stand out for me. I also think that most viewers remember the first theme more.

The second one was better to me hands down.

I also prefer the theme song from 1983-1987. I thought that the second theme went better with the progression of the series as well as the progression of the 1980's as a whole. The first theme song sounded kinda corny to me.
