check out THIS page http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=240548

most likely you should install SpywareBlaster (http://tinyurl.com/g1d9)and Mike's hosts file (http://tinyurl.com/coye), and use firefox (http://tinyurl.com/32654)with the Flashblock and Adblock extensions installed

dont forget to update and run your antispyware programs.

i got that too.. but i thought it was pop ups from SO... so my question is...

how do you know if a pop up is spyware or a legitament advertisment from the website you're visiting?

I know that if your computer is not connected to the internet, and you still get pop ups, you have spyware.. but i'm talking about when you're connected.

I'm still getting those casalemedia popups! I did install Ad-Aware and SpywareBlaster and they still show up. Beware of these (see attached image). NEVER click them on.

legitimate advertisements don't install anything more than cookies (with a reasonable expiration date, and NO unique identifier for tracking), don't make any changes to your system, and don't create any running processes.

you are going to need to scan for this stuff in SAFEMODE (tap on the F8 function key as you boot up) - download Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/) as well, then run both that and AdAware in safemode, then run CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp), and run HijackThis (http://216.180.233.162/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe) to create a log and post it here.

you could also try the tools mentioned on this (http://www.derkeiler.com/Newsgroups/microsoft.public.security.virus/2004-11/0005.html)page, Trendmicro has some excellent free tools available.
