First I would like to thank Cheryl Harrell for the post about the TV Guide article.
I would like to say that Freddie's family fought hard in a court of law to change the cause of death from suicide to accidental death.
Maria had to endure a court battle that re-ruled Thomas Noguchi's ruling from suicide to accidental.Freddie was prescribed Quaaludes by a physician.A factor in Freddie's mental state.Freddie was going through anguish by having a restraining order held against him.
Drugs alter ones mind.
There are many influences that can plant a seed in a persons mind that they would not do without without it.
It was proved that drugs played the major role in the thought process of Freddie on the night that he put a gun to his head.
Freddie was lying in a hospital bed for 33 hours after the shot was inflicted.Yes it was self-inflicted,but it was inflicted under the cloud of a drug.Not in the "self-preservation"state of mind.Freddie had so much to live for.
I thought that TV Guide had kept up on times better than what they did.Otherwise the story would not have contained the word "suicide".The writter of the brief article would have used the proper word.Maria went through unspeakable heartache and will always.

I have had several friends that have passed away with the cause of death ruled as suicide.I only wish that their families would have fought as hard as Freddie's mother did to get the truth of the cause of death.

I don't think Freddie really wanted to die at such a young age, but because he did and the way it happened there will always be that word hanging over his head, clouding the true talent that he brought to this world. I love Freddie Jr and I'm so proud of the way he is trying to "clean" up the name..but I think Freddie Sr did the name proud. Perhaps Jr should talk about all the wonderful things his father did while he was here instead of focusing on the way he left this world. No one talks about all of Freddie's accomplishments...and at only age 22..that is amazing. He was young, impressionable and hung out with stars much older than himself..because there was no one his age as famous at the time. Whenever you see him making personal appearances on a show..he is the youngest. Perhaps that was overlooked because Freddie looked and acted much older for his age..take away the mustache and you have a kid..you can see it in his face on all the close ups. Freddie Prinze was a great talent whose flame burned out much, much too soon.

Truth be told, all the magazines that have done any story about Freddie Jr and his new show have all used that word. That is the way everyone still sees his death because that is how it was first reported. You know the saying first impressions tend to stick with you. Matter of fact, not many people even know that the cause of death was changed to accidental. Freddie Jr has been saying over and over he wants to "clean up his name", yet he hasn't exactly taken the time to set the record straight. If he really wants people to see the guy behind that awful January night, he should make it more widely known that the cause was changed. That's what I would think needs to happen so people will know that.

I sure wish someone would set the record straight. Freddie would want it that way. I love Macca's new avatar btw... :)

Suicide is such an ugly word.

Fred Jr has had to live his life with the horrible stigma of being Mr. Freddie Prinze Jr.

His father was a man of honor. Show me a 22 year old who has accomplished as much as Fred Sr. has.

Fred Jr. is possibly trying to tippy toe through the media. The media can be such beast. Most probably as time goes by........ maybe years... he will set the record straight but for him it takes time. He has to jump through specific hurdles to get his foot in the door. I believe one day he will set the record straight but for now he may be just cautious. For good reason.... The media lamblasted his young father. They didn't even give him a chance. As fans we all know what happened to Fred Sr. We remember everything.

For now I will sit patiently because Fred Jr. is threading lightly. I will give him that.

If he ever writes a story on his life he should mention that his father was a good man. A man who had it all too fast. Fred Jr. will know the trappings of Hollywood. He will see it. They suck you in and spit you out.

Amen to all you said, all of you. I think Freddie Jr. is trying in his own way to get it right. And Pitooey, you are right, it is going to take time and having him tread lightly. But you all know as well as I do that people are going to believe what they want to believe about our beloved Prinze. At least his fans and friends know the truth, and that is what is really important. The rest of the world.... well let's just say I can't use that kind of language on this nice family forum! LOL

I love all your comments..and I agree with everything being said. Bottom line...both Freddie's turned out to be amazing men and I'm so proud of them. I would love an hour to sit down with Jr and tell him how much we care about his dad...an email would do...but when you're that famous there's no way of making any sort of contact. I can only hope that Jr someday finds this board and realizes how much all of us fans care about both of them.:wave: ;)

Wikipedia encyclopedia states the facts about the autopsy reverse ruling.

IMDB(internet movie data base)states the death suicide.This movie data base is a well known and well used data base.Freddie jr. could have corrected the info on this site.
Maria has a heartwrenching book about her son.

He has the tools to make it happen.One of them being a judges ruling.
The judge cleared Freddie's name in a court of law........Freddie jr. should clear it with the public.

I hope his heart is in the right place when it comes to these "tributes" to his dad...and he is not just capitalizing on the fact that his dad was who he was.

A short time ago I was watching E! channel and saw "101 most shocking moments".Freddie was listed as #36.It was titled"Freddie Prinze commits suicide".

Just for the record.......when it happened I thought it was suicide...I was 12...and at that age, you tend to believe what adults tell you. Needless to say, things change as we proceed into adulthood and learn to think for ourselves....

I really dont think he meant to do this. I think it was another cry for help....one of many that went unanswered. I DO get that when someone cries wolf soooo many times...ppl do turn a def ear but this was OBVIOUSLY a person in trouble.... I will NEVER understand how ppl who SAID they loved him could ever turn their back on him... Shame on them.

Thank you for that. I mean, please don't get me wrong, I don't want to pick on Freddie Jr because I know all too well he has had his own issues to work out where his father is concerned, but well, it seems like now that he has come to terms with things, he's still not ready to deal with others. Personally, I think George Lopez deserves a lil more of the credit in the re-emergence of talking about Freddie. He is the one that brought him up before, he is the one that made a positive impression of him by telling what he meant to him, and he is the one that got Freddie his star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. He has been the one to make a big difference here, yet even he hasn't really mentioned the fact of that change. It is sad.

As I said before,Maria wrote a book.I cannot even imagine how she could even sit there and write a book about her son and the events leading up to his death.I am a mother and my heart goes out to Maria for going through the pain drudging up certain details to write in her book.What a strong woman.What a painful thing to go through to let us know the truth.
