View Full Version : Apparently, www.unsolved.com is still being updated (bare-bones, though)

I'm not sure is people were aware of this, but I was just surfing through the Unsolved website when I came across the following story:

http://www.unsolved.com/0148-Tallchief.html

Specifically:

SOLVED!
Heather Tallchief recently turned herself in to authorities.

This is true, she did. According to www.amw.com, she turned herself in September 15th, 2005:

http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=26377

This is the only instance of an update I have seen to the site since a while after Stack's death. Nothing in-depth seems to be put on anymore, but simple stuff like this shows that they still care to update the site instead of letting it sit and grow dust.

Or maybe they've done more than I have seen.

EDIT:

After more reading...

http://www.unsolved.com/0114-JerryBowen.html

SOLVED!
Jerry Lee Bowen was recently arrested with the help of a tip from an Unsolved Mysteries viewer.

http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=25007

Captured, Dec 22, 2004

Once again with Jesse James Hollywood (Thankfully, evil guy)

http://www.unsolved.com/0122-Hollywood.html

SOLVED!
Jesse James Hollywood was recently arrested in Brazil.

Captured, Mar 08, 2005

And again...

http://www.unsolved.com/0123-Desiree.html

SOLVED!
Desiree Dawn Lingo-Perkins was recently arrested in Mexico.

Oct 07, 2004

Once more...

http://www.unsolved.com/0112-Pritchert-Guthrie.html

SOLVED!
Craig Pritchert & Nova Guthrie were recently captured.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/africa/08/20/fbi.most.wanted/

You guys probably know this by now...

http://www.unsolved.com/0126-Weaver.html

SOLVED!
Gordon Weaver was recently captured.

http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=25029

May 19, 2004

Griffin is updated as well...

http://www.unsolved.com/0133-Griffin.html

SOLVED!
Malaika Griffin was recently arrested.

http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=24797

Jun 06, 2005

And more

http://www.unsolved.com/0222-Kilgore.html

SOLVED!
James Kilgore recently turned himself in to authorities.

He was caught in 2002, weird because at least one page remains un-updated from the 2002-era of being captured...

And an interesting update:

http://www.unsolved.com/0214-Westin.html

SOLVED!
Kristine Sue Westin recently turned herself in to authorities; Kevin Dale Woo committed suicide.

http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2003/May-02-Fri-2003/news/21236550.html

2003 for the trial, so I imagine an early 2002 capture, again a 2002 update. Woo commited suicide in a standoff according to the same article.
----

At the same time though, some solved cases are not updated:

http://www.unsolved.com/0125-Defrancisco.html

Both were captured (Regina got 35 years, Margaret walked on bail after a mistrial), but there is no update. Weird, considering they were captured in 2002, over 4 years ago (perhaps it was during a LT hiatus or something).

And in 2004, where other crimes have been updated:

http://www.unsolved.com/0147-Alfonso.html

http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=25232

AMW says Jul 16, 2004, but I see no sign of it from the UM website.

Also, Eric R:

http://www.unsolved.com/0209-Rudolph.html

And Morrow:

http://www.unsolved.com/0248-Morrow.html

http://www.almanacnews.com/morgue/2003/2003_12_31.morrw.shtml

He was captured and I assume is in jail.

A recent example:

http://www.unsolved.com/0218-Russell.html

http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=25451

Oct 23, 2005

Very recent capture, which may be why it isn't updated. Sadly, it may never be: the updates probably have stopped by now. I may be wrong though.

Even stranger is the case of the unidentified subject murder:

http://www.unsolved.com/0144-Unsub.html

They believe he is the victim of careworker murder and have identified and arrested his caretaker after running his prints through a database. They showed the only known picture of him from the autopsy (it was gruesome) and then the computer enhanced version that can be seen on the website.

However, all of that information was from an update (the episode was on today). I forget his name, but they haven't updated the site with information at all...

OH really because I thought they just totally abandoned the site they really should let the people from this group keep up the site we would do a really good job in fact I believe the site needs a MAJOR MAKEOVER!!

Okay, I just found a topic detailing this (only two cases mentioned).

So apparently I was not alone in this.
