View Full Version : I got a kitten
Janice 11-23-2005, 12:53 PM Yesterday, we went and bought a kitten. She's not the big lion type like Foxy -- she's an affectionate dainty little charmer. She's a lilac point Persian....beige with darker tips on the ears, nose, paws, tail...beautiful markings. We named her Lily.
I can see that she's going to be a wonderful pet. She's full of life, and so very loving. Maybe it was too soon to get another pet. I don't know. I just know that I couldn't take it without an animal in the house.
I'm dealing with mixed emotions. My grief for Foxy is overwhelming. It hasn't subsided, and I didn't expect that. I feel guilty about getting Lily, but I know Foxy would want us to be happy. I still can't believe he's gone. I have to bond with Lily, and I will. I'm confident that it will all work out.
I don't have a picture of Lily, but I found one of her breed on the web. It looks very much like Lily except that she doesn't have the very dark nose.

MsOrange 11-23-2005, 12:56 PM sounds like she' adorable. Dont' worry... sooner or later you'll be able to move past the pain of loosing Foxy and feel the love of having Lily. You'll never forget Foxy, but thinking about her won't be so hard one day.
You know what's a great name for a cat?
Tom!
;)
The Chauffeur 11-23-2005, 01:00 PM Awww! I can't wait to see her, she sounds adorable ( and expensive..lol) I know she'll have a long and happy life with you. Congratulations Janice!:) I'm sure Foxy would love her too.

Yeah, talk about inflation, lol. I paid $500 for Foxy almost 17 years ago. Lily cost $850. I told my husband it's our Christmas gift for each other. :)

Janice, I didn't know how I would handle it when one of my pets died, but I knew Twinkie's time was close. It's cliche but time does heal all wounds(well, almost). I still miss her alot even a year later, but it does get better.
I'm glad to see you have a new kitty and I know you will come to love her as much as you loved Foxy.
KristinHerreraFan 11-23-2005, 01:56 PM awwwww!! It must be sooo cute! :D I love cats & kittens!!!

spunkygirl 11-23-2005, 05:00 PM Awww that's great that you got another cat Janice :)
For the longest time I would get this sick feeling in my stomach at the thought of getting another pet after our dog passed, I guess it's because I couldn't bear the thought of getting another pet and then losing that one too. Now I'm past that, and have my cat whom is very spoiled ;)
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 11-23-2005, 05:03 PM That's great, though. Some people just need pets around and you still have Foxy in your thoughts and that's fine.
Actually there's this young kitty that's been coming to our house and not wanting to leave. We're pretty sure it has an owner...but last night it stayed out in the garage all night. (I didn't know until this morning being that it was there at night and still there when I got up in the morning) Usually it goes home. Right now it's curled up in a ball on our kitchen chair.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 11-23-2005, 11:16 PM Awww thats great! My grief for Molly is overwhelming, too. At work Im fine, but now Im home in room and Im bawling. I just feel so lonely now. I have 4 other dogs and a cat that I love to pieces, but Molly was 'mine' and she was just a baby. The past day or 2 Ive been going back and forth about getting myself another small dog but I dont know. I want to fill that void that Im missing, but I want basically a carbon copy, and then part of me feels guilty for even thinking of the thought.
EmoJoe 11-24-2005, 12:30 AM Awww :) I bet hes cute! :D
KristinHerreraFan 11-24-2005, 12:54 AM I have 4 cats myself :)

Brian 11-24-2005, 01:27 PM Janice that is such a cute kitty. I'm sure you'll love her. I'm very sorry to hear about Foxy. :(
I felt guilty at first when we got Oscar. We were giving Lady away and I felt bad because we were giving away a dog we had for a long time for a new kitten. He was small but now he is 15 pounds and still as adorable as ever.
Nighthawk76 11-25-2005, 11:48 PM This is great news, Janice. :)
*Miss Randomness* 11-26-2005, 12:33 AM Aw, thats so cool! I want another cat, but I don't think I'm getting one.
Brad Russ 11-26-2005, 01:27 AM I hope you enjoy your new kitty Janice!! :)

Don't feel guilty for getting Lily Janice. It doesn't take away anything from your love and memories of Foxy. If anything, I think all good pet owners should go out and continue the cycle as a legacy to their past pets. You gave Foxy and wonderful life and she'd want you to continue that with another cat.
As you know, I have a "herd" of five but still cherish and love my past ones as much as I ever did. It's the "Circle of Life". ;)
P.S. - good luck with your Christmas tree - nothing like a kitten's first Christmas and the discovery of the Christmas Tree!
I Love John Ritter 12-24-2005, 05:11 PM I'm sorry to hear about Foxy, Janice. I'm glad you got a new kitty though, I know that you will grow to love her very much and that you will never forget Foxy. Lily sounds so adorable and so sweet!!
Brian Damage 12-24-2005, 05:15 PM I totally missed this thread. I knew you got a new kitten, but I'd like to see the little fella.
Hollow 12-24-2005, 05:50 PM i got a new cat about a week ago too, my stepmom brought it here to live with us. too bad it hates people and only lives under my dad's bed. i've only seen it once and it got pissed off and tried to attack me when i was trying to see it.

I have a kitten that I got back in June and she doesn't like to be petted or picked up. She's not afraid of people because she will come near everyone, she just doesn't want to be petted or picked up. She bites me when I try to pick her up. Everyone is nice to her but she still bites, LOL. I thought that since she's a kitten, she would eventually grow out of this, but I think it's just her personality. It's a shame because she's so adorable.
KristinHerreraFan 12-24-2005, 06:57 PM Cangratulations!!! I say, thats a GREAT christmas gift!
Kitten's are sooo cute!! :cat:
