View Full Version : The extras-"THE BEST OF" on season 5 DVD were kind of weak and I personally prefer
TVFactFan 11-23-2005, 12:14 PM to just see the old cast members be interviewed like how Jenilee was interviewed. It should be more of those type of extras and that way we can found out more about the show behind the scenes. Like i still would like to know why they choose to do the season 6 opening credits at the Zoo and how was the Santa Monica Pier Opening Credits chosen for season 4. But that best of jack in season 5 and janet is something that you would see on TV Land-lol Not on a DVD

Yeah! I only watched Janet's and then I was like well I can watch the epis again! and enjoy that better!! I really wish we had bloopers...its funny that they had "quality" bloopers from back in the beginning seasons but none for the later ones!!!

Yeah Bloopers would be much better than that BEST OF mess
Moonlight Lady 11-23-2005, 01:41 PM I watched the Best of Larry -- Gee, big surprise  lol
Not interested in the JH interview. I would prefer bloopers or even better, some behind the scenes footage, like what their dressing rooms looked like or maybe at home interviews, I don't know something like that.
O/T: I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving :)
ClarenceAlabama 11-23-2005, 01:49 PM It's weird how they stopped including the bloopers on the DVD sets. I'm sure they must have tons more. Maybe after season 8 is finished, they will release a THREE'S COMPANY BLOOPERS dvd.
Chain Gang Member 11-23-2005, 01:49 PM I love the bloopers

I have seen bloopers from the later seasons on tape. Maybe they are waiting for Season 6 to start including the bloopers with Priscilla in them?
Janet Tripper 11-23-2005, 02:42 PM retrogirl82-*LOVE* your avatar;)!!! I know I do hope they put bloopers when PB starts on the dvds...
ClarenceAlabama-I sure hope so!!! I was thinking maybe that is what they wanted to do ....bc they know the fans would buy it and that means more $$$$$ for them!!!;)!!! Which I do'nt mind a bit...I would buy them...bc we know they are there!!!

Thanks :D Surprisingly, that simple icon took me such a long time to make   I was experimenting with colors, layers, gradients, all that jazz....it was fun, though. I really like it. Anyway, I do hope they include bloopers. I mean, the "Best Ofs" we can just see by watching the episodes. I'd rather have the unseen stuff, bloopers, and interviews.
Hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving tomorrow :D

Edster2973 11-26-2005, 11:36 PM The thing that we have to bear in mind when it comes to the extras is that the actors who participate are probably paid nothing to do them, so it's not like Anchor Bay can demand that the actors appear. Why I say that is because it's been revealed that Anne Wedgeworth (Lana) actually flew half way across the country to appear (she wanted the honor of speaking out about John and how gracious he was) and she wasn't paid a dime, not even air fare. Suzanne Somers, on the other hand, wanted mucho bucks to appear, and thus she wasn't included. Methinks the budget that Anchor Bay allots for the show to be on DVD causes them to be frugal when it comes to these things. Also, the former cast members may be willing to appear but it depends on if their schedules allow them to. For example, if Joyce is too busy appearing in a play, she may not be able to participate in one of the season's releases, yet it's very clear how much she'd love to be a part of it given her many appearances thus far. There are a lot of factors involved.
Also, and this isn't to bemoan the loss of his passing, but I don't think it's wise to have tribute after tribute to John Ritter on every DVD. That would be obnoxious and it'd come off as being insincere after a while, as if they were making sure a tribute was there to serve as an enticement for people to purchase the set. No thanks.
Regarding the bloopers, I didn't expect any to appear from Season 5, seeing as there was so much tension on the set. Remember, for a few shows the cast and crew had 2 sets of scripts to memorize: one with Chrissy and one without. When Jenilee Harrison/Cindy came in, perhaps the tension was a bit less visible, but perhaps the bloopers simply weren't funny enough. A mistake has to have a bit of heart and playfulness in order for it to be funny, and John & Joyce have gone on record saying that it wasn't playful at all during that season, even when Suzanne was reduced to only one minute a week. They were all concerned that the show might slip in the ratings and there was some anger that had been present, so perhaps the bloopers would be disappointing to view (although many of us would love to see them regardless).
Just speculation on my part, of course, but I don't think Anchor Bay is being purposely stingy. They're trying their best to put out the show in a way that costs them less money and guarantees them a profit. If this doesn't happen, they'll view the show as a loss and no further seasons will be released. I think, from here on out, even if we were to only get the uncut versions of the episodes with NO extras, we should count ourselves as being very lucky. Many shows don't make it this far on DVD. We're very close to having the whole series and we should keep that in mind. Heck, we may even see the release of the spin-offs, hopefully.
Just my two cents...

I rather have NO EXTRAS than the Best Of-lol

The 'Best Of's don't bother me since I view them first thing. I look at them as a preview of what's to come. I think if I viewed them last I'd be just annoyed. So maybe that's the trick. View them first thing (or maybe not at all).

The best ofs are the only extras I don't watched.
