Does anyone have a preference between traditional cel (hand-drawn) animation
or CG (computer-generated) animation? Actually, I like both. But if I had to
choose, I would have to go with the traditional cel animation. Still, I do like
some of the CG films (incl. both TOY STORY films, both SHREK films, THE IN-
CREDIBLES, and MADAGASCAR (among others)). The ones that I find less
interesting are the ones like FINAL FANTASY and POLAR EXPRESS that try too
hard to duplicate live-action. Why bother to animate it at all if you're going to
make it as realistic as live-action? It seems like a waste of time and money to
make animated people that look almost exactly like real people.

Cel animation, deffinately...CG is good for special effects but, i prefer the artistry of hand drawings coming to life...ironic since my GF is a CG animator by trade #@_@#

There is nothing like cel drawings. I am a bit of a traditionalist. I like cg animation too, but cel is better for me.

Cel animantion all the way. It's my favorite and I also do like GCI as well. :)

One of my current faves is "The Incredibles." This film is the perfect example of CG animation at its finest.

CG animation doesnt impress me a lot, you can easily do the same 3-D thing with puppets ( Again, since my GF is a CG animator, i feel a little embarassed to say this )

I loved "The Incredibles." I also liked one of the DVD extras, namely the goofy
cel-animated cartoon short with the characters' offscreen commentary. What
a great self-parody (and a satiric nod to the old CLUTCH CARGO TV series)!

I am still in awe of stop-motion animators (George Pal, Willis O'Brien, Art Clokey,
Rankin/Bass, Will Vinton, Tim Burton, Aardman, etc.). Sure, stop-motion lacks the fluidity and smoothness of CGI, but somehow the stop-motion puppets (Puppetoons, the original King Kong, Gumby, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, the California Raisins, Nightmare Before Christmas, Wallace & Gromit, etc.)
seem to possess more heart and soul (for lack of a better phrase) than computer animation.

Still, all things considered and being a traditionalist, I would for the most part have to choose

Yup, i concur...btw, have you seen the new Puppet-mation show "The Wrong Coast"? Its a wonderful and hilarious puppet parody of "Entertainment Tonight" ( although, i think the mouth movements are done by puter to save time )

I prefer CG animation (or CGI as it's best known) to Cel animation

Ludovic by Co Hoedeman is a Canadian one that you've probably never seen, but it's very good stop motion animation.

Traditional animation, it's much more artistic.

Cel Animation because i think its more classically artistic

Definitely traditional cel animation.

I've yet to find anything CGI that really appeals to me except for "Toy Story".
