that a season-by-season release of TLS will begin within the next year. (I see this topic is already being discussed in another thread.) I have heard this from someone I know in the industry who has some insights on planned releases of old television series. TLS has been delayed because of the continuing release of "I Love Lucy" which will have completed the release of all six seasons within the next few months. It would not have been wise to release TLS while ILL is still being released. I cannot swear TLS will be released next year, but I do trust the insights of this friend of mine. So we'll see.

I sure hope that The Lucy Show makes it's way onto DVD next year. My guess that if it does show up on DVD next year it will be around May or August.

Another brighter sign is that Paramount is releasing some Beverly Hillbillies episodes. Conventional wisdom had been that because the first seasons of BH were so widely available on public domain releases, there wouldn't be a market for authorized releases.

MPI released their Ultimate BH Collection, and is following with another volume -- but the rest of the episodes are owned by Paramount. Obviously Paramount feels the sales of MPI's sets warrant further release of the episodes, and they are no longer scared off by the public domain issue.

The Lucy Show is in a similar situation, so perhaps given the BH example, Paramount will see worth in TLS sets...

BH has an astounding over 100 episodes in the public domain, while Lucy Show only has the complete fifth season (adding together a few different releases of the series) and I believe six episodes from the final year. It would definately be worth Paramount/CBS's while to get this title officially released given the obvious good sales of I Love Lucy parafanalia. It's a shame that only two episodes are available of the obviously golden episodes of season one of this classic. Season One of TLS seems like it would sell REALLY, REALLY well, as I hear it had some classics.

I would buy season sets of The Lucy Show, they use to rerun the show all the time. My favorite episode was the one where Lucy and Viv take Karate lessons, it was a scream.
