Besides the low sound of this episode on the Season 1 DVD set, I found another defect.
Because the sound was so low, when Universal was cutting and transfering it to DVD, they cut off a little bit too much during the scene changes.
For example, raise the volume as high as you can, then listen to the theme song come to a close, just after you see "STARRING FRED GWYNNE as HERMAN".

The sound did not fade out, the sound was cut too quickly, and you don't hear the natural fade out of the theme song.
This same cut of the fade out music, is also present just as the last scene finishes where Herman, Lily, Grandpa, Marilyn, and Eddie are all looking out the front door.
