I need some advice; hope somebody out there can help me.
I am concerned about my father especially now since my mother died early this year. The way he talks at times; makes me think that he's dying but he doesn't say anything. Yesterday I was with him and we went to the mall so that I could buy a new cell phone which he paid for (he offered).

On top of that, he gave me $200 cash and when I asked him why? he's giving that to me; he answered, "I can't take it with me".

That sort of scared me and it's making me think that he's going to die but he won't say anything about that. What did he mean by that?

Maybe the death of your mother made him face his own mortality, like he realizes material things just don't make him as happy as it does making his loved ones happy. Have you asked him if there is something he wants to tell you? or that you should know?

I don't know. All I know is that the death of a loved one or someone of the same approximate age makes one feel very immortal. It hits home like a ton of bricks!. I surely hope for you that this is the case and that he is concerned with his mortality which is natural feeling after the loss of a spouse. It is a scary thing. Hopefully that is all that this is! Please try not to worry. :)

I am sorry abt your mother's death. My condolences sweetie.
As for your father, he has had a traumatic time probably dealing with your mother no longer here. Depression is what it sounds like. We all deal with grief differently, but most times, we all eventually get over it. Your father sounds like (from what you posted) that he feels like he wishes he could be with your mom. He misses her so. He is feeling sad and depressed. She was a major part of his life. His feelings make him feel so low that it may appear as if he may be sick/dying. Depression is a terrible thing to go through. He may need to seek a physician for this. but he may not want to. You can only sit with him and let him know how you feel and let him know that you are receptive to WHATEVER HE MAY SAY TO YOU. Let him say what he has to say, but don't pressure. Take care. Irene

Yeah, it's probably something like that. I think you should talk to him...

And I'm so sorry about your mom. :(
