There was something edited out and I can't remember how it went. Larry was in the Evans' apt. and then there is where something was edited out. Then Larry is shown coming back into the apt. with the news abt the gas station and moving to California. What was the part that was cut out? I can't remember.

Also, what was Thelma's trip abt Larry going to the basketball game with her dad? She made such a big ol' fuss abt it. She acts like they didn't spend anytime with each other. They didn't have anything planned. She was HOPING Larry would take her where she wanted to go, but technically, nothing was planned. I loved when my man and my dad would do things together. She was being a whiney baby.

The funniest line in this episode is also when JJ and Michael had their little interaction. "JJ, I may get them when they're puppies, but you get them when they're DOGS!!!!"

I think what happened was he asked James to go to the basketball game.

Maybe Larry was working a lot and him and Thelma weren't spending any time together. I think that if Larry would have asked Thelma to go to the game she wouldn't have been mad, But instead he asked James. My husband and my dad go play golf together a lot and sometimes I do get upset when they go play golf because I feel like I have no time alone with my husband.

But what's with James liking Larry all of a sudden and remembering his name. And then when he finds out about Larry's job his mood changes LOL

The best bit from that episode was when JJ turned up at the restaurant... what a breath of fresh air! He brightened up the whole Thelma-based episode!

He asked James because it's more fun to go to the game with someone who actually LIKES basketball

When I was young, I always thought that JJ and Thelma put their heads together during the resturant scene. Do you think they planned for JJ and Debbie Morgan to show up unexpectedly? Check out how Thelma was happy to see them both. And Larry orders four Filet Mignons. Homie must've had some mad cheedar to afford four dinners like that.

Also, didn't the waiter look like John Boy from the waltons?

Yep, Thelma and JJ must have planned for them to show up...no way JJ could have afforded that restaurant. She wanted to avoid the inevitable of having to tell Larry she didn't want to go.
I guess Larry was celebrating the fact that he was going to have his own business and therefore was spending some money he had saved up.

Yeah, that waiter kinda in a way looked like John Boy. Funny how Good Times always referenced that show the Waltons. I wonder if this was some underhanded way of referencing it again.

Yep Irene. Everytime I watch that episode (including the first time) I think about that.JJ and his lady showing up at that restaurant. Larry even sounded surprised. ("What are you doing here man"?) As much as JJ and his sister stayed at each other's throats, they just had to put their heads together for that one. Any other time, Thelma wouldn't have wanted JJ sharing a table with her. She would've been embarrassed to see him.

I don't think JJ and Thelma planned it for JJ to show up at the restaurant. Remember, JJ and Thelma was talking in her room and he saw Thelma didn't really want to go, so being a big bro, he decided to try and help his baby sister out of a tough decision. About JJ affording the restaurant, he probably would have had his girl Samantha pay.

Good answer. You are right. That sounds logical. I guess I didn't pay attention very well.

I'm surprised J.J was even in a restarunt anytime he took Henrietta out with one dollar and still came home with 37 cents jiggling in his jeans-lol-lol

About something being edited out, I'm not sure which part. Larry was in the Evans' apt. to tell Thelma he had tickets to a basketball game, and to ask James if he wanted to go. Then he left to go change clothes, then came back about the news from his uncle about the gas station and moving to Calif.

I don't think Thelma made a big ol' fuss about them going to the game. If you saw the beginning she knew something was happening between her and Larry, like they were growing apart. I think after she saw he would rather go to a basketball game with James let her know they probably wasn't gonna last too much longer. So she was just dissapointed that she felt the relationship was probably going to end.

That's because Henrietta PAID, that's why he had no problem going anywhere LOL
