i thought the same thing, but i also believe there had been something cut out. I am trying to remember if Thelma and Willona's conversation had more to it than what was shown. You know how the characters would engage in a conversation just to stretch out the time. But for th life of me, i can't recall if this is what happened. I believe the scene was edited.

yeah there was some footgae cut out but even on the UNCUT version James, Florida and Michael still wasn;t gone long enough to have walked up 8 flights

That's why i said willona should have just said Flo was on the 16th floor waiting for james. It was no point in saying the 8th floor

Now you know that if they would have stuck to true time with the whole walking up thing, half the show would have been over by the time they would have made it up to the 17th floor. So like 5 mins in tv time is about a min in real life. Just about every show does that. Same thing happened on All in the Family when Mike was going to go to a protest, and not even a min had gone by before Archie said that Mike was already on the subway.
