My family played board games....Monopoly, Scrabble, Clue, Life, etc.

I used to like the game Operation, where you had to remove an object from the patient without setting off the light on his nose, lol.

My sisters and I like the Ouija board too.

I used to have a mini replica of a Greyhound bus that I loved to play with. I also had one of those V-Tech computers for kids that talked and had games.

If you want me to be honest, the mud. I LOVED the mud. I'd roll around in it, make mud-pies out of it, and yes, try to eat it too.

I loved Barbies and dolls. I also loved legos! I was forver building houses and then using the little people to create my own stories lol

There are a lot that come to mind. But nothing can ever compare to the original NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) video game console. I was born the year they finally released a console you could purchase for your home. Before that, they had a bunch of video games that were solely arcade games. So my parents brought a NES when it came out in 1985 and my first memories of playing with the NES go back to 1987. This was back when Nintendo still made educational games for young children -- there were a bunch of Sesame Street and Mickey Mouse games young children could play. This wasn't until later (1990ish) but the NES controller was definitely FAR easier for a very young child to hold than it is for a young child to hold a GameCube controller today.

Oh, and I remember this toy...It had "Speak" in the title and it was this big rectangle thing with a keypad and a digital display on the top. They released a few different versions of this toy...I believe one was for math, one for reading and one for spelling. They were both for fun but also educational. It's been about 13 years since I last saw our toys but we still have them...they're packed away somewhere though. They were the primitive, 1980s version of today's LeapFrog. :)

Oh, and four words... Fisher Price Movie Viewer! I still have six cartridges for mine, and the sticker that was on the crank fell off forever ago, back in the 1980s. Haha, good times.

EDIT: the "Speak" toys were made by Texas Instruments and they had a Speak & Math (grey), Speak & Spell (red), Speak & Read (yellow). I had Speak & Math and Speak & Read.

Oh yes, I definately played with the original NES...and Atari, Genesis, Super Nintendo, and a little known system called Turbo Graphics. I grew up with three brothers so I was forced to play these things :p

I do remember speak and spell too :D

Anyway, I played with everything and anything, really...Cabbage Patch Dolls, Barbies, some Kermit the Frog keyboard, Polly Pockets, Lite Brite, board games...anything that was a toy in the 80's and early 90's was fair game :D

I had this Winnie the Pooh treehouse thing that I liked too :lol: And I played with those little cars a lot...

Oh Sure, You'd be surprised at how much money collectors will shell out for vintage toys. Most of the stuff I had isn't even made anymore. The ride on toys I had were made out of real wood and metal and lasted through 5 kids, unlike this cheap plastic stuff they make today that falls apart after a few months.

I always used to like Hotwheels Cars and things like those. I remember this one toy I had that was this large van...But it folded out into a little city and it came with these tiny cars. I forget the name, but it was cool. I think I still might have that although I wore it to pieces playing with it for so long. For board games...Monopoly. I still think that's fun.

Can't forget the Sega Genesis either. Another thing I wore out.

That's true. Vintage wooden toys made by Fischer Price are worth some big bucks nowadays.

One great toy I remember (before Star Wars Toys took over my life in 77) was the Hot Wheels line of "Sizzler" cars and race tracks.
Sizzlers were slightly larger than your standard Hot Wheels cars, and they had a motor in them that when charged up (with a battery pack that you plug into the car) made them run really fast for a few minutes. We had this cool race set made of molded plastic that had all these turns and jumps. here's a link to a site devoted to the Sizzler line of toys from the 70's.

It is a toy that every child has played with, rolled around in, used to make a house, etc. As I read the article I couldn't help but think that was so true for me and my friends. does anyone remember a toy that was around in the early to mid 60s called "Johnny West"? It was a plastic figure about, I guess-6 in. tall, of a cowboy, with his shirt, pants, & boots molded on permantely, and it came with all these accesories for it. A hat, vest, gun belt, guns, etc. Only it's legs, arms and head moved. Ther was also one of an indian, called "Chief Cherokee". And you could buy a horse for it, that was called "Trigger" and came with a little plastic bridle and saddle for it. The horse was solid plastic, though. Even the feet didn't move!:lol:

Play-do, Barbies (they were my and my friends LIFE) , my little pony, also there were alot of sprinklers we played with : Giggle Wiggle, Crazy Daisy, that Slip n slide thing that made my ass red for a week. :lol: Also I had this little tent I would sometimes "camp" in, I think it was called the Happy Hut. :lol: And of course trees, giant rocks we could jump off of and, dirt.

Haha, yup. The one my dad threw out five years ago was actually my 2nd Stretch doll...the first one broke on Christmas Eve in 1993 or 1994 when my cousins were playing with it. They stretched it too far and one of the arms broke off. I bawled nonstop and couldn't be consoled until one of my aunts took me with her to Kmart the same evening so we could get a new one for me. :( I was still upset, but felt a little better getting a new one. :)

Luckily, I still have my Fetch Armstrong doll...I have him tucked away somewhere, I believe. Not sure what I did with him when I moved. I know I definitely didn't throw him out. I even had the mini-Stretch Armstrong doll at one point but I think I threw that one out eventually when it started getting punctured. :(

Yuppers! :D (actually, just checked on google and it's Spirograph, not Spiralgraph)

I'm trying to find the other Spirograph I had. It was orange on top with silver lettering and the bottom was yellow. When you opened it up, there were slots for the discs and a pencil so that you could take it with you when you went somewhere.

This was the Spirograph box we had, not an actual picture, just one I got off eBay. It's circa 1986, so it matches.

EDIT: Found the other one I was looking for! It was Spirotot, and apparently kid-friendly. That is EXACTLY what I had.

i used to have a talking robot named 2xl it had like a built in 8 track tape player and you bought specal 8 track tapes for it with different catagories like sports history and tv and movies and it would ask you questions and you would have to push buttons on it to answer the questions it also told jokes played music and was one of the most fun toys ever made . they came out with a new moddel a few years ago that used casseet tapes instead of 8 tracks but it didnt sell too well and it didnt seem to have as many program choices for the kids of today as my late 70s moddel did i sure enjoyed the one i had
