The last five were not fun years and it got progressively worse in those last five seasons. TVFactFan 11-12-2005, 04:58 PM The first six seasons, especially the first five, were fun to watch. What made the first 6 seasons fun to watch and what made the last 5 seasons not so fun to watch? jamesanthony 11-12-2005, 05:12 PM The first 8 years are entertaining. The last thee leave something to be desired: deracializing the characters, George went soft and became too buddy buddy with Willis, no more Lionel, the actors looked aged. This show ran at least 2 seasons too long, but like I said before even those weak episodes are better viewing than most of what's on Tv now. The chemistry between George and Louise (one of the best black couples ever on TV), George's outbursts and his bluntness, his slamming the door in everyone's faces, to a lesser extent Florence's part, Bentley popping in and being so obtuse and Lionel (Mike Evans was the best, but Damon was somewhat tolerable- better Damon than no Lionel at all). shadowhawk 12-30-2005, 05:02 PM I loved all the interactions between George and Florence. What a mouth she had! The doorbell rings. "Florence get the door". "You think it's for me." "Probably not." "Then get it yourself." Hahah! I think it got rather bad after Lionel and his wife divorced only five years after being married. That was stupid. Also, weren't there two Lionels?
