Janice Johnson 11-10-2005, 04:41 PM Everybody is becoming politically correct(incorrect)? Or everyone is becoming carb and calorie conscious. Even the Cookie Monster is watching his weight! ;)
Tundra Wolf 11-10-2005, 04:47 PM This isn't a good thing! It's a bad thing! A very bad thing! I still have a recorded tape of Cookie Monster singing that "C is for cookie" thing. Come on, that's very unique, a big blue fuzzy guy who eats cookies a lot. But when he gives up cookies and eats vegetables instead, that's just STUPID! He'll always be Cookie Monster to me!

*Just thought of something* You mean, the cartoon character in my Avatar won't be holding a cookie anymore? :(
The Chauffeur 11-10-2005, 05:04 PM What next, will they kill off Big Bird for fear of the bird flu?
Tundra Wolf 11-10-2005, 05:10 PM Or maybe they'll make Oscar the Grouch "Oscar the Nice Guy" and make him live in an apartment instead of a garbage can.

FPF, they've already let ADULTS see Snugglepuss, and he is an imaginary friend......

swedeace 11-10-2005, 05:34 PM I still have a recorded tape of Cookie Monster singing that "C is for cookie" thing.
Well, so much for "c is for cookie." It's gonna be "c is for carrots" now.
Jonathan 11-10-2005, 05:35 PM That is a little too far.
Mr. Television 11-10-2005, 05:41 PM This is just sick.
EmoJoe 11-10-2005, 05:58 PM Wow thats really dumb
"V is for veggies, that's good enough for me..."
Nah, that sucks.
;)
Janice Johnson 11-10-2005, 06:01 PM Will he still be Blue?
swedeace 11-10-2005, 06:01 PM I can understand both sides. For the veggies side, it promotes a healthier role model for kids to eat veggies. BUT.... I do not understand WHY Sesame Street finds the need to change a character's personality after 36 years. That's not a well-thought decision. They should've introduced the Veggie monster as a cousin to the Cookie monster or something. And then they can BOTH talk about the healthy eating habits of vegetables, AND also say it's "okay" to eat cookies too. Cookies are not a sin either but should be managed. That's what should be taught.
Wasn't thought well....
The Chauffeur 11-10-2005, 06:03 PM Will he still be Blue?
Not if he keeps eating carrots..:(
Janice Johnson 11-10-2005, 06:05 PM Not if he keeps eating carrots..:(

Dr. Thong 11-10-2005, 07:02 PM Even as a wee lad, I understood that the Cookie Monster was an exageration. This politically correct crap has to be stopped!! What's next, Sesame Street welcomes illegal aliens to the block??
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 11-10-2005, 07:36 PM What next, will they kill off Big Bird for fear of the bird flu?

TheGreatPretender 11-10-2005, 11:46 PM For some reason I remember as a toddler there were a few characters from SS singing "Healthy fooods taste sooo gooood...." Or something like that. I know it wasn't cookie monstor though.

Chocoholic 11-11-2005, 11:03 AM First, they let Elmo take control of the show and now this? I have nothing left to live for...
MsOrange 11-11-2005, 11:37 AM well that's lame
Chocoholic 11-11-2005, 11:58 AM When I was little, it was my PARENTS who influenced my healthy eating and exercise habits, not some TV show. When are parents going to resume taking control of their kids again? There are so many parents out there who let their kids rule the roost and that's just sad.

Karen* 11-11-2005, 05:45 PM That's so effing STUPID. So these people think that all children are obese cuz of Cookie Monster? That makes me mad. :cuss:
ABlairican Pie 11-11-2005, 09:02 PM FPF, they've already let ADULTS see Snugglepuss, and he is an imaginary friend......:rolleyes:Actually his name is Snuffalupagus, not to be confused with "Heavens to Murgatroyd" Snagglepuss...(a Hanna-Barbera character)
A Snuffalupagus that adults can finally see.... Kinda takes away the intrigue of an imaginary friend only seen by Big Bird, dun'nit? The show has jumped the shark.
I cannot swallow the idea of a vegan Cookie Monster. I may have mentioned before they had a commercial thirty years ago where he was having a meal at an outdoor restaurant where he demonstrated he ate all for major food groups as part of good nutrition and topped off the meal with a steam shovel/construction type vehicle dumping a load of cookies onto him.
I can't think of him now being called Carrot Monster.
Number 9 Dream 11-11-2005, 09:32 PM Snuffalupagus scares the crap out of me
I do think that this is going a little too far. I mean, why does everything have to be so PC, aimed with the goal to keep children healthy? I think that's the parents' role to do that, not t.v.
